I think that’s right, now that I think of it. I would imagine Blanco goes at the other one as a lefty. I don’t think there’s a chance Moore ends up here. Just doesn’t make sense for him.

It’s not that I don’t think he could get drafted in an adequate spot. It’s just that I think Tony and staff won’t let it happen. With how thin our LHP is, I think this is something they were probably really proactive and selective with. Him signing would leave us in, quite frankly, a really rough spot.

I think the surprise pick may very well be Grimmer this year based on Joe Doyle. Maybe Tyler Myatt but I feel like it will be a hitter. Ford for sure is the biggest threat we need to make it to campus.

I do think if you land him, he and Blanco are fighting for the 3rd weekend starter and other would be the main long relief guy in the pen. Moore knows if he comes here a starting spot isn’t guaranteed which is why he probably ends up elsewhere

Agree that you have to be ready for a surprise tonight. Some will go our way, some won’t. Very possible Moore is the contingency for Blanco signing.

I will say that I think what Vols have in their favor is they can sell Blanco on coming to the SEC and having a big year. Tough going pro after by far your worst year in college.

We’ve had 4 weekend starters before.

Tidwell, Burns, Beam, and Dollander in 22. Sewell was a 5th spot starter.

Then this year, it was Doyle, Phillips, Kuhns, and Russell (once he was healthy).

It’s a great luxury come postseason, when you need more than 3 starters.

Regardless, dudes have to compete and earn everything in this program. No one has a weekend starter job yet. Only the chance to compete for the three spots. The more talent competing for those spots, the better.

Yes we made the CFP, but we’re still 2nd tier in terms of recruiting. We’re not on the same stage as UGA, LSU, Texas, and AM in terms of recruiting elite talent.

Geography is always an advantage for those schools. Georgia still had good recruiting years even when Fulmer was pulling guys from there.

Yet, we were very comparable to the 5th/6th ranked team last year with the average player rating and the number of 4 stars. We’ve also beaten LSU and A&M in the last 3 years, so those schools are not ahead of us right now.
