Will the 34 limit include players that get here and need to redshirt or are injured? That could seriously complicate things if they have to be included. Will be almost no redshirting anymore.I would probably expect a few more. I think this new 34 limit is going to encourage people to take fewer risks with their playing time chances.
There was talk about “grandfathering“ players who would be cut in 2026 based on the 40 to 34 roster limit. What that looks like, I’m not sure anyone knows at this point. In future years, it will be a strict 34 man roster. If you elect to redshirt a player, they would count against the roster limit. Will the 34 limit include players that get here and need to redshirt or are injured? Redshirts count against the 34??? That's horseshit, there's gonna be somebody somewhere that sues over that. 100%There was talk about “grandfathering“ players who would be cut in 2026 based on the 40 to 34 roster limit. Most teams don’t play much more than 27 total players (pitchers and position players) in a season anyway. New roster cap just means teams can’t stockpile talent with 52 or 53 kids and there’ll be more competitive mid majors and more overall parity in college baseball.Redshirts count against the 34??? I honestly just wish they would've done a 40 man roster and mirrored the prosMost teams don’t play much more than 27 total players (pitchers and position players) in a season anyway. Vitello was on air with Basilio today and he mentioned Kuhns by name as someone they have big plans for and believes he has a major league future. He just wasn't ready to be a 5 or 6 inning Sunday guy as a freshman. Don't think he'd mention him if he didn't believe he'd be back. Not his biggest fan but Sean sparks says Kuhns is staying. So take that how you will
