Yeah we have been living off the covid super seniors since Heup has been here. Still have some left, but just don't need to stock up and depend on above average seniors anymore.

And we are still very veteran.

I have hopes the moving on super seniors will make us better. I feel like the coaches relied on them, because they were comfortable with them. But look at how many guys who started 30+ games for us since Heupel has been here…

Cooper, Spraggins, Thomas, Roman Harrison, Trevon flowers, Bru McCoy, Elijah Simmons etc etc etc. Guys who were just staples. Most have no nfl future. Just a couple picked up as UDFA’s.

It has to be rare that a kid starts 2+ years in the sec and doesn’t get a look in the NFL but our roster has been littered with those guys.

So I’m hoping now that the COVID seniors are gone, we’re “forced” to play younger more upside guys and it pays off. Similar to how improved our secondary was last year once our vets left.

That's two hits. Do we want to name the misses as well? Not trying to be a smartass, but there are two sides to every coin. We can sit here and list all the positives and pat this staff on the back, but we shouldn't ignore the negatives.

JMO, but there are a couple of position coaches that should be on the hot seat if we don't see improvements from their units this season.
I wasn’t providing an exhaustive list. I simply mentioned a couple of dudes off the top of my head in response to his comment. This staff has hit on portal guys as well as any staff in the country.

Not veteran on O at all…youngest TN O I can recall since 2004 season.

(Guess we did get older w the QB change though which is a positive)

i just hope we did some self scouting.

you can literally call the plays before they happen from your couch just about. Hope some of the offense changes or has some diff layers to it.

Burns was here one year. Pope was the coach in 2022- that’s when Hyatt made his jump.
Hyatt trained vigorously during the offseason going into 2022...I wouldn't say that was necessarily all Pope but that can be debated. Cedric Tillman was good due to Burns though and I believe Hyatt began to improve some under Burns before he fully turned the corner. The verdict is still out on Pope from a development aspect imo.

One year on the job isnt enough to develop someone. Notice how the WR unit has progressively gotten worse each year under him
Pope was the WR analyst under Burns.

So, don’t give credit to his actual coach? In the coaching business, one year absolutely is a difference, and there are thousands of examples.

I’m not going going to say he’s elite, but part of the issues the last 2 years has been the QB position. Sure, some drops. But there have been a huge number of missed throws. Guys are open. It’s all on film.

Ramel Keyton and Bru McCoy developed under Pope. Squirrel was good his first two years and then regressed. Maybe some coaching, maybe injuries.

Name all several thousand examples then. You have 24 hours. If you fail to answer, Pope will be fired. Good luck

Yeah I think Squirrel just couldn't stay healthy honestly.

So which is it? The one year Burns coached him made all the difference in the world.
Or the one year Pope coached him had no affect at all.

Looks like your just too stubborn to acknowledge Pope's influence.
