We do a lot of rotation up front. Garner plays a lot of D-Lineman, they want one that can play and will help. I agree we aren’t desperate at DT, but if we take one he will be expected to contribute. Garner wants and gets competitors. GBO

Not to mention we lose 3-4 guys from the DT rotation after this season. Adding someone like the Syracuse kid would have benefitted us more for the season after this one. As is, we'll need to hit the portal for quality DTs after this season to reload.

We got some good young ones that will become very good players that will be emerging by then. Our D-Line coach is good at coaching them up and having them ready. GBO

With whom we lose after this season, we don't have enough to maintain our rotation. Garner will go to the portal again.

...and certain other posters would be claiming that the "worst WR in the portal" joining our team was going to cause the best WR's on the team to transfer out through the portal. Some guys just like to complain no matter what happens.

West and Bailey are SDE not every down DT’s. Why do Tennessee fans think depth isn’t important. Not depth at DT or WR and we have some fans that think we are good at both. Makes no sense

Honest criticism is a bedrock of progress. It's vital. There is very, very little honest criticism on VN.

- There is lots of uninformed, bias opinions shared as fact.
-There is lots of emotional, woe-is-us, Eeyore opinions shared as realism.
- There is lots of dishonest criticism shared by trolls disguised as UT fans.

We lose all but Hobbs out of them. But Ty Whethersby, Isiah Campbell and Marion Dye are all young studs that are really going to be ones in the coming years too. We will get ours upfront. GBO

I agree. We will take a DT or two, but we are not spending 2 million for a player that could cause one of our current guys to portal or cause problems with team chemistry.

Moi is a true senior this year. He is gone if he doesn't RS. Hobbs and West will be draft eligible but can return for their true senior seasons.

Edit: Misspoke, West is a true senior as well. This is his last year. Hobbs only one that can return. @Woodlawn VOL

I was thinking Moi and West graduate. They're seniors. And I believe Covid years are over. But there is a chance the 5th year passes. And if Hobbs has a good season, he could go to the draft. Either way, I predict we'll be looking for some portal DTs after next season.

Eason, Moi, Hobbs, and Bailey will all play and all are proven. We will bring in more help. West can slide inside for passing situations too.

Yep that is correct, I just got finished looking. We got 2 promising freshman and a Sophmore that should grow a lot this year. I expect Tyree Weathersby to make a impact this year as well. He got hurt early in career but he seems primed for a good breakout year. Nobody is talking about him but he can play! And Campbell and Dye are going to be beast in another year or 2. GBO
