Wonder if Seldon could also pull his name out of the portal with Sampson going to the NFL.

I think Seldon would go somewhere that he is guaranteed to be the starter and that pays him starter money. I think though if the NIL doesn't come through as he thought, then maybe he comes back.

I wonder if being good in every sport will eventually make us choose. Got to think, we have the top baseball and basketball teams currently, a top 10 football team, women’s basketball, and softball. While women’s aren’t as expensive, that’s 6 teams of mouths being fed.

Yeah, the women need to focus on baking and making babies.

I think he would do well in a hybrid role like Princeton Fant. He may not want to switch roles because that's another reset so to speak.

Can we just wait before we freaking panic? The staff is meeting with him according to dascoop, so if his number isn’t crazy I’m sure we will match it. If it is a crazy number you can’t just let a college kid dictate the way you spend money. If he wants a million a year for a DB then good riddance.

There’s got to be structure. This is truly the wild, wild west. Some of these players are asking for more than their position coaches probably. Do you make more than your boss? Would you even think about asking as much as your boss? These kids want their cake and want to eat it too. They’ve approved this travesty so there’s no putting the toothpaste back in the tub. I just find zero entertainment value in this current culture of “collegiate” athletics. It’s just very sad.

This. Pope is making $250K (and he ain’t worth a penny more) and Boo wants to go to his side of the ball and make a $1M? This is just like the professional sports where athletes make more than coaches and basically dictate the teams. LeBron has hired his last several coaches, not the GM or owner.

His uncle posted on here that Seldon wants to be a WR. That's what he came here to be until RB injuries happened last year.

It seems like we want one more OL, 1 starter WR, 1 starter quality RB, 1 DL. I haven't seen us pursuing Safety or LB. I also wonder if we pursue TE now. We don't have too many gaps to plug right now. If we can get a real gamebreaker RB and WR that would be win this year. Beyond Holden Staes leaving, there isn't a loss yet that is a concern from the portal. Sampson is the biggest loss to me.

It was pretty much guaranteed that Sampson was going to the NFL when Seldon entered the portal. Don’t think him officially announcing it changes anything.

Time to be done with college football. These aren’t college athletes. They are greedy, over the top bastages. This current environment is not college football. It’s minor league pro ball. There’s no loyalty to a school except the almighty dollar. Anybody that says this is how it’s always been done, just under the table, is lying. They weren’t handing out bags for 2nd and 3rd stringers for 6-7 figures.

This is completely absurd.

Some people wanted them to get paid while others of us said it would turn out to be constant turnover and bidding wars…

I have no doubt every player wants more money and he is one of the few that is probably worth it. The problem lies in the fact that if he does stay and has a great year next year then the price will escalate much higher. The gap between the haves and have nots will only increase due to NIL

I always wondered why when bad rumors started that insiders never showed up and said they were false before tweets came out

Only a Few guys on here seem to be legit on everything and they don’t post much though anymore

Does seem like some things come out to the public before they are even thought of or mentioned on here these last few years…..

No reason to get mad at insiders. Some are on here posting to get insider points and feel good about, some post stuff to start ****, some post legit stuff that gets overlooked

That’s sad, but that’s just my opinion. Not a fan of either of those guys. Feel like we may look back and be like “we should have gotten a portal stud RB”

BUT, again that’s my opinion. At the end of the day, I no longer truly care, not saying Vol football is dead to me, but after this eye opening week. I’ll definitely be using my weekends elsewhere to enjoy life to the fullest.

Definitely will be watching the Vols still though. Always will bleed orange.

I think of this like coaching searches.

Don’t get hung up on watching the sausage being made just hope you enjoy it once it’s over and made.
