I get what you're saying and I don't disagree with that premise. That is a lot of ifs and buts for a coach who has never had a losing season, though. Hell, if Kirby Smart had multiple losing seasons, there would be problems down there too.

I mean, from everything that has been reported, they couldn’t land one because their approach to the winter portal was bad. They put all their eggs in the Carnell Tate basket for some reason and it never materialized. It was a huge mistake, and one I hope they learn from for the future.

I have a feeling a proven WR coach and a better Nico would have gotten him here. Sadly, we will never know

Maybe a blessing in disguise!
They may be forced to get all the young 4 and 5 star receivers ready and play them and not use the “ same ole excuse “ to keep them on the bench as usual.

Either they have done a good job of recruiting and they are as good as advertised or they’re not,
I’d like to see for once.

With that said, I don’t think Heupel is that guy. I believe he wants a Natty every year and expects to be making the playoff every year.

I think Heupel is too trusting and let’s the players trick him somewhat to believing they would never leave or they are good to go when they are not. And so he doesn’t always have a backup plan such as with Nico.

He needs better recruiters on the offensive side and more cut throat type coaching. He has mostly hired friends and promoted from within who mostly do and listen to what he says. I think two new hires on offense would do wonders if they are great recruiters and can bring new ideas to the offense. We need more closers.

Money is not the issue. We can always find more money if it is needed. DW will not let football take a dive. All IMO

JMO, you can’t really have a backup plan to Nico. QB is a unique position. You have to commit to your guy and be ready to pivot if needed. That’s what they did.

Think it’s fair, from the outside, to knock how WR room played out. Hopefully our guys are as talented as we think and stay healthy.

Not sure what to think of this talk about Vandy being cash rich now. Whatever it is we have to step it up in recruiting. It is an area of concern now.

I wouldn’t add anyone else. Go into the season with this roster. That’ll give you additional scholarships in 2026.

I feel like nothing will change with our recruiting approach, for the better or for the worse. We’ll see how everything plays out, this season will be a huge tell tale sign tbh

It seems like they are betting on youth, despite lack of experience. Not sure if that was their choice, or they just struck out on the experienced players. I'm hoping the youth on Offense starts a turn-around like what we saw on D. There are some obvious concerns about development with o-line, WR at a minimum. I do think the young ones are more talented than some of the experienced players from years past. But I agree that we find out a LOT this year about where we are.

Betting on youth is all well, gotta get '26 going if so. Cause we lose quite a bit, esp on line.

You are probably right but I don’t know. At some point Heupel will have to realize that 10-15th nationally won’t get us a NC. I have a feeling the recruiting approach may change a little next year.

Ironically enough, the only way I see our tactics change is if we have some sort of implosion this year, like a losing record
