With Nico for sure. There was also an element of frustration with the offensive coaching staff over the amount of rope given to Nico. He was a problem but he was enabled somewhat by our staff. I love Heupel and believe his best days are to come, but he learned a tough lesson with all that transpired last year.
What does this mean exactly? Meaning he was a locker room problem or was coddled a little bit too much as to not piss off the Nico circus that accompanied him?

buddy we havent done **** all in the porthole. that is why we are in trouble.
It genuinely seems like our staff is 2 steps behind in recruiting, which is a huge red flag because we are coming off a 10 win season, cfp bid, ncaa issues behind us, and we have some of the best facilities in the country. There should be absolutely no reason why our recruiting is this bad except for bad recruiters on the staff

Absolutely NOT true. Outside of Martinez, very few were bitching about Banks. Just because you type it, doesn't make it true. Not sure how many could complain about the D, they were why we made the playoffs, not the offense. You bitch about what you wanna bitch about and I'll do the same. I don't need your advice on what to think. You do you and I'll do me. Can you understand that?

The offense has been **** the last few years, try to understand that!
If you want a new OC, I’d suggest you get a new team. It ain’t happening here.

More the latter than the former. There was definitely friction because he didn't privately take responsibility for his part in the struggles happening on offense. Also alot of friction between some of the other players families and Nico's entourage. Entitlement doesn't win you any fans.

let’s play a fun game, name who you think were the top 10 offensive players here so far, and the top 10 defensive players here so far, and let’s see who and how they were recruited.

Offense (no particular order)
1. Hooker (Pruitt)
2. Hyatt (Pruitt)
3. Darnell Wright (Pruitt)
4. Cooper Mays (Pruitt)
5. Cade Mays (Pruitt)
6. Jalen Wright (was committed to the class prior to Pruitt being fired, was developed by our rb coach)
7. Sampson (Heupel/Mack)
8. Tillman (Pruitt)
9. Milton (Heupel)
10. Spraggins (Pruitt)

Defense (no order either)

1. pearce (Heuepel)
2. McCoy (Heupel)
3. Butler (butch)
4. Omari Thomas (Pruitt)
5. Alontae Taylor (Pruitt)
6. Josephs (Heupel)
7. Simmons (Pruitt)
8. Banks (Pruitt)
9. Arion Carter (Heupel)
10. Telander/west/Hobbs/RG3 (Heupel)

Not advocating for Pruitt in any way shape or form, just showing this to show how our staff has mostly relied on players who were here prior to them offensively, but defensively we have been able to recruit and develop the talent better

That’s how it works in the early years of any staff. You get that, right?

Thanks for the response . I could imagine that would bother some of the other families. He really doesn’t sound like a leader. Hopefully the guys will become a more close knit group as a result of this .

They had suprise losses in the Winter and by the time they went after players it was too late. The good ones mostly knew where they were going when they entered and they put too much into getting Tate which was unlikely.

I think relative to others Tennessee should have one of the biggest NIL surpluses considering what they didn't spend in the Winter and what they've freed up with the losses and especially the money saved from Nico too

Taking all that into consideration Tennessee should have enough money to at least buy one or two of the top prospects in the Spring. At least 1 WR and a DT
We had 23 early enrollees and got to 82 of 83 on the roster. I don’t believe many who left were surprises. We had to cut to get to the number. We couldn’t add much in January. I know it’s not a talking point because it’s not the narrative people want. We spent money on the high school class, and I’m guessing the staff will work hard to develop them.

Something ain’t right on the portal thing. Getting in too late or not at all. I realize some are looking for nothing but $ & Heupel don’t want them but it appears they’re not in the mix at all on a lot. Jmo.

Our portal recruiting is atrocious. That was the knock on Josh, he can't recruit. That's becoming very obvious.
Search for Heupel on the UCF boards. Paints a relatively accurate picture. Sure there's some sour grapes, but there are some consistencies in the complaints. Now the question is....did he learn from those and adjust? Time will tell. It might be that he's not a big fan of the recruiting process and would be much better as just an OC? Or perhaps he's thrilled with what he has from recruiting and is rolling with those kids who've hung with the program in this era of the portal? Let's be honest, he'd rather cut off his nose than fire someone from his staff no matter how bad a job they do. I'm sure that same loyalty applies to "his recruits". I kind of see it as the Dabo approach. Will it work for us they way it works for them? Do we have the same level of evaluators and developers? I don't know but we're about to find out. Maybe Heupel is just sick and tired of the mercenary tactics and Nico/Nic have left a really foul taste in his mouth in regards to the portal? I mean, really, can you blame him? I'm just a fan and I'm disgusted by the entire process and couldn't give 2 squirts about the HS recruiting process and the games these kids play. Just look at how our own players are using social media to get their kicks watching fan reactions to their posts. The whole thing stinks. Nah, I can see a lot of reasons Heupel might not be relishing jumping whole heartedly into the cesspool known as the transfer portal.

I'm not saying it happens anytime soon, but the lack of attention to the portal is going to end up biting him at some point. Especially with the way it affects players leaving us. It's like we're not even trying to replace the players that are leaving. We have some serious depth issues in certain spots and in some spots we have some serious questions of unproven players. That's a big risk to take to just assume all is good.

Or he's sick of it right now? I know I am. I'm not his biggest fan, but he gets a lot of slack from me due to all the crap he's had to deal with since last season ended when dealing with the portal.
I’m sure he is, but he’s paid to get the job done. Definitely sucks at the moment, but he’s got to overcome and get er done.

Yeah, he gets no sympathy from me. Every coach deals with stupid **** in the portal era.
