Obviously, he does not have the experience… But he would essentially be at where Nico was a year ago in terms of time in the program. He has had a good spring and I’m not just saying this because of what is going on but one high school coach told me last week that he thought Tennessee’s best looking quarterback at practice was Merklinger.

So this unfortunately seems to have been true. He's apparently missed 4-5 practices this spring and Big Nic was obviously lying in those tweets last night.

USC people are saying UCLA has a deal in place for him and Madden to join the team together

This is the first I've heard of this. The news about him missing practice today make it sound like it a new development.

I’ve seen this before and it’s the same thing as some of these dance moms do…very immature always in the drama and try to acquire their dreams through their kids using them as a pawns while trying to relive their 20’s all over again…his dad is a football coach and as coaches most are former players dreaming of getting this big in their favorite sport..his dad wants to be his son so bad he can’t even see straight…he’s so childish and immature just from this post alone.

I think the writing's on the wall with the wideouts, and I have no doubt about other players leaving. Its only natural.

Actually dont blame coaches or Spyre for anything that went down. I do however blame them for a lack of elite recruiting at skill and OL positions, so much so that now we are in this position, potentially.

Obviously this isn’t good. I’m surprised he no showed and went ghost because everyone I know that knows Nico has said he’s a very nice and mature guy who’s kinda shy in public.

I think long term the program will be okay but if you account for not having Dylan Sampson back and Losing Nico you’re not in a good spot. Could be disastrous if Mike Matthew or CB and some Onlineman follow him out. I think either merk or macintyre will be very good. However I think they both need another year in the system for me to be confident in their ability. Merk has allegedly improved a ton and impressed but last year the game and scrimmage looked way too fast for him and he didn’t have the same zip.

Youre crazy Trippie, how could Merk possibly have the ability to score more than 3 TDs against 6 SEC opponents? Only Nico has that ability.
