Idk. Possibly Oline. We’ve yet to see anyone recruited make an impact on the field but yeah we’ve recruited better as far as stars there especially last year.DB has the been weakest part of our recruiting.
LUCKILY, we seem to develop pretty well in that area and we’ve had great help from our DL providing pressure, that doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.
Thanks for posting this. It's not like the cupboard is bare.2024 Class (entering year 2)
Kaleb Beasley - 4 star and 18th rated CB in class
Edrees Farooq - 3 star, 71st rated S in class
Jalen McMurray - transfer from Temple with 1 year left
2025 Class (incoming year 1)
Tre Poteat - 4 star and 43rd rated CB in class
Tyler Redmond - 3 star and 49th rated CB in class
Timothy Merritt - 3 star and 58th rated CB in class
Dylan Lewis - 3 star and 67th rated CB in class
I'll be honest. I would hope he wouldn't because the precedent it sets for future "agents" is not a good one. The only possible thought process from our end could be that it would not be an issue in the future because they expect some regulations to be in place in the near future that would avoid this type of situation. He's gonna get paid.
the bridge has been crossed. these are the rules. we have to field a winning team. i have no confidence in our ability to go out and repeat transfer porthole success to replace, like we did in 2024, lucking into the OSU CB.I'll be honest. This is a completely different situation. Gibson agreed to a salary number and now has backed out of it. No way in hell can they give him more money again, that would just make more players think they can do that.Let it play out. Everybody freaked out when Boo and MM was believed to be leaving. Both stayed.
Long time until April.
This is a tricky situation for the staff to navigate. If he comes back EVERYBODY knows he got a new deal. That means everybody else on the team is going to want a new deal.
All I'm saying is let's see how it plays out. Do we call his bluff? Do we just pay him? Do we settle for a deal somewhat in the middle? This is a completely different situation. Hypothetical and all made up numbers….I would clean his locker out and say good luck!
Just one of the many reasons I wouldn’t be good at coaching this generation of players!
If I had recently negotiated a deal I would honor that deal, 100%. But that's just me..Hypothetical and all made up numbers….
Who in here would turn down $600,000 if they were making $250,000? How much loyalty to a team does that take?
It’s frustrating, but I think the lack of rules or a system puts the players in position to make difficult decisions which makes them look like mercenaries, and in a sense they are.
As with everything in life, it isn’t black and white. A lot of gray area to consider.
You do if you just recently agreed to a new salary. And not try and take advantage of our best DB is hurt. He is from Trussville, so I'd expect nothing less.Hypothetical and all made up numbers….

I don’t know about his family situation but several hundred thousand dollars when I was 20 years old would have been really hard for me to turn downBasically nobody would turn it down. But they want others to bc it involves a team they cheer for and judge those players and their character for making smart financial decisions.
