Poll:Will AJ Johnson play Saturday?

To those wanting AJ to play under the "innocent until proven guilty" thought process, how did you feel about Treon Harris for UF? Were you willing to give him the same due process or did you brand him guilty? Just curious.
I think any young man or woman should be considered innocent till proven guilty. I think we shouldn't throw the athlete nor the woman accusing him under the bus until we find out all the details. That said it's hard to be rational about anything in sports and throwing a hot button social issue just makes the stupidity of people even more pronounced.

Stinks that it's his senior night as well. Will he still be able to participate in the festivities?
I think its safe to assume that being suspended "from all team activities" includes making an appearance on the field for senior night or any other team activity

How quickly can we turn this situation around?

Meaning when is the soonest that the verdict will be made on him?

In example Treon Harris @ UF.

Apparently all college athletes are guilty until proven innocent (unless they play for FSU).

I don't comprehend it either, but I do remember the Duke team. All were immediately guilty and everyone on the team, including the coach, was punished and then Oops, it was all a lie by the "victim"; I also remember the Twana (sp?) case against the police, Oops, another "victim" lie. It seems like in rape charges, as in all others, the same standards should hold. I fear in some ways we are actually lessening the seriousness of the act by jumping the gun and finding guilt, then having innocence proven.

But even if he is innocent, and it is proven beyond a doubt, he will still be punished by being suspended, missing multiple games, possibly draft stock affected, etc. If he is guilty, throw him in jail and leave him for multiple years...that is how a rapist should be punished (I have some other ideas of suitable punishments, but they are not suitable for this board).

All because.....? Don't ask me, I was always taught "innocent until proven guilty" and thought that was one of the concepts that made the USA great.
I Agree. It's not at all fair, but if Butch plays AJ and he's later found guilty...or at least implicated for being involved in ANY manner, then, not only Butch, but the entire UT athletic program will have hell to pay. Wrong as it may be, unless or until AJ's fully cleared, he's not suiting up. Let's face it. If these players would contain their monsters and ease off the wild partying, then their reputations would obviously be too clean to be questioned. The saddest part is, as another poster pointed out, these girls may have been "induced" to make false allegations just to give Mizzou a leg up this weekend, but apparently AJ's not up on Peyton's moral cloud, so everything's going to have to be brought to light before (and if) he plays again. It's not that he shouldn't play because he may be innocent, it's because the potential ramifications are far too ominous to dance around.

Had a question, got answered on another thread and don't know how to delete my post. Sorry:blush:

Did the other thread on AJ get deleted? I was reading in it and all at once it said I did not have permission to go to that page. When I came back later, I didn't see the thread. So did it get out of hand and a Mod had to stop it or is there something weird going on with my system? On other sites it shows when a thread is deleted and sometimes why. I don't know if VN does that or not.

Yes, GAVol deleted it and started it again from scratch. There was some name dropping and other stuff that wasn't cool.

So college athletes are supposed to abstain from sexual relations? Exactly what environment is it OK to have sex in as a male athlete in your opinion? I await your answer with great anticipation.

Sorry to keep you waiting. Sex is fine as long as it is consensual. Or did you miss that part?

I really hope the entire defense doesn't get moved around due to the loss of AJ. Maggitt has been great off the edge and JRM has been great outside. Will someone just plug and play rather then moving players around that have already settled in there positions this season?

I was planning on making this thread for NEXT year but it looks like we may have to now. Do we move JRM or Maggitt inside and let Weatherd play ourside? Maybe it is that Kid from Germany? I doubt we run nickle the whole time.
The real question is with AJ out will Curt still play at DE some? I have to doubt it. That's going to have to stop. I'm afraid this is really going to mess with our scheme.

Hopefully AJ is innocent and this can get resolved quickly.

I could have swore that Butch said at some point that Jakob Johnson was 2nd string behind AJ

So, no one knows? JRM is not a mlb, neither is Maggitt. We need their speed on the edges for sure.

Can the Berry twin play there?

Don't care...this is all just PC BS. These guys should play until there are actual charges and arrests.

GO VOLS!

I agree but unfortunately people think we are a democracy so they like to publically convict people based on a majority opinion.

Rather a republic were you are innocent until guilty and the law system runs it's course.

I am nervous about Jacob Johnson for this game. He may be great in the future, but he is still learning the position. When he played at the end of the Chattanooga game (I believe that game), they ran it right up the middle on us and he got washed out of the plays. Hope I'm wrong, but that could result in us moving Curt to the other LB with JMR for this game.

I think the last thing you want to do is move two or three people around. Someone has been practicing with the twos @MLB that is who you go with and maybe let Maybin make the calls.

Innocent until proven guilty? That doesn't seem to apply to lots of people. I propose that IF (...IF) he is not charged or if proven innocent that the accusor's name and picture be plastered everywhere as a gold digging slut. They are able to make these accusations and hide behind a news media that won't identify them.

Not that there is ever a good time for something like this to happen, but this timing really sucks. Finally the team is clicking, and positivity on the field is reaching highs that Vol fans haven't experienced in almost a decade, then this...

I hope that after all of this is sorted out, AJ and Mike are cleared of the charges. It sucks that when something like this happens punishment occurs before the facts can be sorted out, but the fact is that student athletes are held to a higher standard than the average student. It is on their shoulders to keep themselves out of compromising situations. I know that is a lot to ask of young men, but that responsibility and scrutiny comes with great benefits too.

Hopefully this mess isn't too much of a distraction for the team, and we can go out on Saturday and whoop some tiger azz.

GBO!!!!
