Steve Spurrier. J/k but I say let Coach AZZANI take it and get a new WR coach.

Please no. If they want to promote from with in choose Coach G. He has shown far more ability with his position group than Coach Azzani. I like Azzani but he has to show more as the WR coach before you tell him to run the whole offense.

Please take Martin's name off the list...and while you are at it take down the street sign that bears his name...no VFL.

I attribute the entire thing to Martin's wife wanting to stay in sunny southern California.

Come on guys... if the women didn't pull the strings, we wouldn't be restricted to man caves and normal sized cereal bowls.

Be a little sympathetic here. The guy led us to our most recent National Championship, and I think he really does bleed orange at the end of the day.

I can't help but think that if you looked at Peyton Manning and made the comment, "Tee Martin is not a VFL," he'd probably just look at you and shake his head in disbelief.

It wasn't the right time for him to come here. It was a very heavy decision for Him and he was torn. He decided to put his wife first at that time. He did right. She has goals and he has goals, and slowly they are reaching those goals. That is my boy.

I would give CZA a grade of incomplete for the WR's production this past season. The QBs barely had enough time to get the ball out much less accurately and on-time. By the time Dobbs became the starter the top end of the receiving depth-chart went down with injuries (North, Croom, Smith, etc.) leaving just Pig and newcomers Malone and Pearson. I feel that this coming season will be a better barometer of Z's coaching accumen.

That being said, I would like to see someone like McGee who has a heavy run-based philosophy much like CBJ's.

And to be blunt, he did not see eye to eye with kiffin. He especially was against his hire to UT, especially when kiffin told tahj Boyd to leave because tee was mentoring him. Yet, He set that aside because his wife had an opportunity and so Teezy used his opportunity to grow and learn. He is about to reach is first big goal of becoming offensive coordinator.

I think that Tee also feels he's too big time for our little cow town.

He's made a stupid comment or two that went over like a turd in a punch bowl, but I don't think there needs to be any hate in either direction. Tee should spend some time with Charles Davis and get schooled on how to relate with the UT fan base.

was going to vote Azzani until I saw he's interviewing for the CMU job. I'd like Smith from Arizona. Familiar with Jones's system so it would be a good fit should Coach Z leave

Finally somebody gets it. Tee is class, yet I think some fans hold a grudge against him because he was the starting QB of a NC team instead of the chosen one.

The unfortunate thing here is his wife is going to really put a ceiling on his career for her non-existent career. He is a really talented coach that if he was open to moving could possible be an OC by now and make more money.

Hope it's here.. And people don't realize how much kids will listen and respond to him well.. Will be a great recruiter also. People kill me with this grudge they got on him..

While I think Frost would be amazing, I don't see him as realistic. My picks would be:
1)Rod Smith (Also like McGee but his specialty is RBs, for which we already have a coach)
2)Sonny Cumbie (credited with helping implement spread at TCU)
3)Bill Legg
4) Jason Candle
5)Azzani promotion, but hire in Quarles as Co-OC type role (ok, the Quarles thing is just because I am curious to see if he could step in, shine, and then move up like Mahlzan.)
6) Azzani and someone else interesting as a QB coach

I want whoever CBJ chooses. He's far more qualified to make that decision than I am. In CBJ I trust.

My thoughts exactly. VN just stop with all this foolishness. Butch will hire who Butch hires and a 100 polls and a 1000 threads of names are not going to change that. If any of you think your suggestion of a name in any way will affect the selection of our next OC I will tell right now, NO IT WONT.

Just stop all this. Don't you realize how stupid this makes us look to all the other fan bases that lurk on here and then go back to their home boards and post. It is no wonder we are laughed at by other fan bases, we can not handle normal events in the life of a football program.

Sonny Cumbie co-OC from TCU would be awesome. I like their offense. Huge if we could get.

Rod Smith would be a hire in the same spread family of offenses.

I understand the emotional ties but we need experienced competence, not just a name we like. We also need someone who will take the existing coaches on his staff.

Promoting Azzanni would be problematic as he is also recruiting coordinator. Something is going right in that area. I would not want to mess it up. Recruting is too important.

Stop discussing the upcoming hire on a TN football forum because it doesn't affect the hire? What if Butch hires the wrong guy? Would we not get paid?

Go with the best "pro-spread" OC available and forget ties with the past. Hire someone young, energetic with something to prove and has a track record suggestive of future success.

why would BJ hire Tee to be a OC ? All he has ever been is a position coach. I get the love for Tee because he won a NC all by himself in 98 . Actually he gets more credit than he deserves for 98. If it wasn't for the Defense Tn wasn't even playing for a SECCG.

Assuming we don't lure away an OC of a major program, the options I like the best, in order:
Jeff Quinn
Bill Legg
Eddie Gran
Rod Smith

Starting to like Tony Franklin OC/QB coach at Cal
Dual use in position of need here at UT, previous SEC experience and recruiting, number #13 offense currently as a spread offense coach (I know I know we don't run the spread! but he should be able to adapt)

If we can poach a power 5 OC, I like Seth Litrell

Norvell would be my top pick but he's definitely not leaving ASU

Also wonder if there's any chance to lure away some "co-OC" looking for the full title like Billy Gonzales or Sonny Cumbie
