There is also a contingent of “fans” that are unhappy if they can’t predict misery.

This poll should help define that they make a lot of noise with limited numbers. Unfortunately they are proud of their own and their buddy’s efforts, follow the LIKES.

If Penn State's d was total trash what was Tennessee's? Theirs was much better than ours on a team that probably wasn't giving their best effort most of the year since they were supposed to be NC contenders and that was completely out the window by like week 3.

Pretty sure 2+million a year for the last DC shows a reasonably sound commitment on defense. These coaches aren’t shiny objects. Try to make the most well informed choice out of the available candidates, give them the proper support and hope that it works out.

I have to remind myself of this after every loss and in the offseason especially. Theres only a very small % of us VOL fans that are the miserable, NegaVol bastards. They just make 10x the posts and start 10x the threads as normal fans around here. Their unpopular and bitter opinions are greatly magnified by the freedom and anonymity VN supplies.

Misery loves company. I refuse to play along with that foolishness though. This is the "Golden Age" of UT sports. Especially in the 3 that matter most in football, basketball, baseball. We have won the AD's award for most wins across all sports the last 2 years. Danny white is killing it...and this hire proves his prowess once again.

They gave up 40 plus points to UCLA. That's not elite

What was Ohio St's reason for letting him go? I know nothing about Knowles, but all I wanted was a DC that could mastermind a Defensive game plan using different schemes and getting the max out of the players. At OSU he must have pissed somebody off -- no extension and no invite to the NC Party. Pretty cold.

There is no way to know how he will work out here, but if you get the opportunity to hire a guy that had the number 1 defense in the country and won the national championship last year you have to take the shot. Very unlikely to be worse than what we have had and has a very high ceiling. Many on here like to call our 2024 defense elite, but this guy’s was even better.
