I've considered that some of those people post insane things for fun...BUT...I've come to the conclusion they simply do not understand sports . Not sure there's another explanation ....is there?

He shut down Heuples offense in last seasons playoff game and OSU won NC losing 1 game, so pretty sure he knows what he is doing. Can't imagine anyone being unhappy with this hire. Now we need talent but I believe the guy can recruit talent.

I am happy, probably #2 choice for me. Probably would have preferred Walter based on Youth and History with Heupel for a more long term hire. Would be concerned Knowles might be here only a couple of years

I know, I actually had to pause and do my research before believing it to be true-bc this is not the typical big hire that historically UT has made. I was betting Inge would be promoted and that’s that.
Never expected to hire Jim Knowles as DC.

Don't know if I'd consider it a home run hire. An upgrade for sure but considering where we are at in the state of the game I don't know if we could have done better. As long as he can get our corners to cover a receiver and everyone to tackle we will be ok.

I've been to a few different places to see what fans and people from past teams and other teams are saying and it seems the consensus is he's a good DC hire but with a big learning curve defense that won't pay off until 2-3 years in.. The only scary part is NIL and the portal, kids don't stick around long.

I'm excited to see if he can work his magic here in TN. Just please don't be worse than Banks when it comes to 3rd down

No idea if it works out or not but he would be the best available for most ADs. The guy was widely considered the best DC in the nation a year ago.

I’m just wondering as well. Who was the better hire that people were hoping for? Knowles was considered the best DC in the country a year ago. I’d love to hear the rationale why he’s not considered a great hire.
