Bama also dropped like 6 interceptions where Dobbs threw it straight to them. We also played them at the end of a 7 game stretch. We needed our bye after UGA, putting it after Bama is a waste

What do ya know... 08Vol being negative!!!

Go talk to someone to cheer up man, always being so down and out. It WILL get better, trust me.

From the day he was hired I've said I'll be on board when he beats either Bama or Florida. If that happens this year than I'm all in, but until then all I can do is look at the close loses that could have easily been wins

All I know is that if we beat Bammer in the regular season, I DO NOT want to face them again in the SEC Championship game, assuming we make it there!

77% of folks have us going 3-1 or 4-0. That means 77% think we're going 11-1 or 12-0.

So much for trying to downplay expectations.

The conference office didn't do us any favors this year by putting our four toughest games all in a row.
Florida at home
Georgia on road
TAMU on road
Bama at home

That being said, how many do we win?
I say 2. Florida and Tamu
We go 10&2
UGA wins the East.
We go to Sugar Bowl

I don't make predictions. There are too many random factors that can happen in September and October to know about them in July.

I used to do that, until the season after Peyton graduated. With him gone, I heard folks asking that question, and I just said, "Hell if I know." I just went to the games week by week, hoping we did not get a bunch of key injuries and the team found a way. And guess what. Well, if you are dumb enough to not know what happened that year, look it up.

So, I don't play that anymore, and try to ignore those who do. Nothing against those guys, but when they are right, they walk around overly impressed with their perception of their own intelligence as though they did a single thing that helped a win. And if it goes wrong, they cry like little girls about it.

But the main reason is a lesson that great team taught me. Don't walk in with arrogant expectations. Just be there with us, and inspire us to be our best.

Or maybe it just made me superstitious. Whatever. As long as it works.

If we stay healthy I see 10-2 or 11-1 hell maybe 12-0. 9-3 or worse is a failure with this talent. If our passing game becomes a serious threat we will be unstoppable.

I don't see UGA going 10-2 with a freshman QB

With Chubb, they don't even need a QB. I just rewatched the Georgia football game from last year and they were running through us like a knife through butter. That was without Chubb.we caught all the lucky breaks in that game that game will be as hard as Bama.

That's the longest job of ignoring something I ever saw.

You're delusional. We spotted them 21 points and still beat them. We helped them out a lot too. We've got a elite defense and I don't see a freshman QB beating us in such a crucial game. Chubb may not be the same player. I hope he recovers well and has a long career but you never know with these injuries

One dimensional teams do not go 10-2 in the SEC.

Are we picking A&M because it seems easier for us to lose that game and still come out on top? Is it our inner coping mechanism taking over? Not at all being smart here but I've not studied them as far as this year goes, but weren't they a dumpster fire half of last year's season? Also the qb's jumped ship, someone enlighten me as to why this is a game we likely could lose.

All four of those are games we could lose, against opponents who are our peers in all the ways that count. These are all four good SEC teams.

Some people will say they'll never believe we're beating Florida again until we do it.

Some people will say Bama is the hardest game of the schedule, because most talented through the two-deep and beyond.

Some will say Georgia is the toughest road game of the year, so we have to beware.

And some will say that A&M has the ability to surprise, esp. since we're playing in their house.

All of those are valid observations. So I'm not faulting anyone who predicts any of those games being a challenge.

I personally think we'll pull off at least two of them...maybe even three. Would be heaven on earth to get all four.

All this and they have to prove to me that they can beat the Vols this year before I will believe it. #120 is a monster.
How great? I'm ready to find out.

Me too, brother, me too. Almost enough to wish away 6 weeks of my life so the season could start already. Almost. :)

After two tough wins against fla and uga I think we slip up to a&m. We get back on track and beat bammer, then eventually play them again in atl. Hopefully it doesnt turn out like the 2001 game, another saban led team.

I still think this entire season depends on the Florida game. If they can get the proverbial monkey of their back early in the season and prove they can win a big game against a big rival, then I think it can do wonders for the team's confidence going forward.

Winning that game could springboard a 3-1 or 4-0 stretch, and losing that game could have us clawing just to stay at 2-2. I don't think the Vols have had such a crucial game in close to a decade.

Last year doesn't count?

We were a good team last year, but some could say we surprised and overachieved in some games (Oklahoma and Bama). We never should have choked those leads in the first place when it comes to the Sooners, Arkansas, and Florida, but I don't think many people outside our fanbase expected us to compete as well in those games as we did. But, most had said from the moment of Butch's hire that 2016 was the year of championship or bust. So yes, I believe this Florida game is the biggest in close to a decade.

I understand your point here but what I'm asking is why of all four of these teams we play why are the majority saying A&M is the one that will get us, maybe I didn't make that clear. I know they have a good wr core but what else?

Many people in the media have them as a sleeper pick to win the West. Probably won't happen, but still.

As for legit reasons, well they play at one of the largest venues in the nation and have a great home crowd. It's not an easy place to play. They have very good special teams and playmakers like Christian Kirk who can make life a nightmare. They are bringing in an experienced QB to solve their debacle that happened. Trevor Knight was very good during his time as a Sooner and was only beat out by another QB who led his team to a playoff berth and was a serious Heisman Trophy contender.

People expect the defense to improve in Year Two under Chavis, and Sumlin is known to have high scoring offenses when the pieces are there. They are still a relative unknown, but there are plenty of pieces to point a finger at that show they could be a scary team this year.

Of course, they could also do what they have done the past two years and lose one game and completely implode on themselves making our trip down there a cakewalk. But that seems more like a long-shot than a guarantee.
