It’s hard to pump sunshine when you not only lose to one of the worst teams in the conference/country but how you lose to them. The defense has been bad all year but last night was inexcusable and based on what was on the line it does make the season a failure. What you may have thought would’ve been a successful season in the preseason is irrelevant to the reality of what a loss to an awful team last night cost us.

One bad loss this season. That’s much better than I could’ve said the past ten years. It stings so bad cause we have been trained to watch good football this season until yesterday. Yesterday we were completely off. Inexcusably off. Doesn’t take away from what weve done up to this point though

At 9-2, let's see how the faithful define this season.....

For the record, I am a major supporter of this this season being a massive success.
I am also, but I was excited for the playoffs. I just can't believe they blew it . The coaches.

Ad-hominem attacks are a logical fallacy. What do I have to do with the question of whether or not this season is a failure?

When you are the #5 team in the country in the college football playoff poll and you lose by 25 points to a terrible South Carolina team the season is a failure.

It would be one thing if we lost on the final play. Upset losses happen all the time. However, it's inexcusable to get ran off the field by an unranked team as the supposed #5 team in the country.

It’s not a logical fallacy. It’s facts. You have admitted you only watch TN play when they are good. Then in 2016 you trashed the coaches and called the players garbage. You are the worst type of fan. All of your critiques of this team and program mean as much as a pile horse crap.

terrible loss no doubt
looked like the D simply packed it in.

However SC isn’t one of the worst teams in the SEC let a lone in the entire country.

They are 7-4, 6th in the SEC and 3rd in the East.

Definitely in the top 30 or so in college football …….not one of the worst teams. Even before they beat Tennessee they were in the 40’s.

the loss definitely cost Tennessee however you have NO idea what it cost Tennessee. You have no idea where they would have finished up. USC just moved ahead of LSU putting them in prime spot if the finish strong to have jumped Tennessee anyway…..while Tennessee was sitting.

The loss sucks. It didn’t cost you or me anything. It most likely cost that team staff and program a bowl spot and “could” have cost them more…….but you don’t know that……..especially with Hooker being hurt and out the committee takes that into consideration as well and likely gives someone else more of an advantage because of it.

Not yet. Lose to Vandy amd this is Butch's last 9 win season all over again.

How so?

This is Heupel’s 2nd season.

That was Butch’s what 5th? Also wasn’t Butch 8-4 and Heupel and the team already 9-2.

I think your a bit off.

Hitler invaded the Soviet Union and his troops got within sight of Moscow.
Napoleon invaded Russia and captured Moscow. were either successful?
It’s all about how you finish.
We got within sight of the promised land….
And choked

Scary how close Hitler got. I always wonder had he waited for weather to turn warmer would things have been different.

Any year we aren’t champions is a waste. To want anything less than the championship is silly.

Call me extra silly then!!!!!

Since 2008 the 13 seasons before Heupel got here. Tennessee had 8 losing seasons. 8 losing and only 5 winning. None of those were better than 8 win in the regular season.

Now for 2 years in a row Tennessee has been winning, scoring and the games have been fun and competitive in almost all of them.

The team is 9-2 with wins over Bama which has been what 15 years coming? How long has in been since Tennessee has beaten Bama, Florida and LSU in the same season?

Hey I’m REAL good just to see Tennessee become good again. Hard to win championships before you become good. Your not going to win everything until you start winning on a regular basis.

You have obviously never been the best or one of the best at something. You don’t just decide hey I’m going to be the best. You got to work at it. It takes time and you got to go out and earn it. Once you finally get there you WILL realize everything else certainly WAS NOT wasted because it made you better, it made you work, it built you into the best.

Are the people that said yes serious? I mean I know it's a disappointment not to make the playoffs and to lose to south Carolina but we weren't expected to have 9 wins and beat Alabama and Florida. This year has been a huge success in my eyes. We were #1 at one point. We are still top 10. It sucks to have the opportunity to compete in the playoffs snatched away but it could've been like the past 15 years with very little to enjoy. It's been exciting every week and I've throughly enjoyed the season minus the Georgia and South Carolina games of course.

Actually ad-hominem attacks are textbook logical fallacies. You might need to open up a logic textbook.

My past has nothing to do with the topic. So even if what you said is true, what does that have to do with the topic at hand?

My guy, you need some perspective. It’s college football, and we haven’t won 10 games in a long time.
I recommend going on a nice hike in the mountains…and then go ahead and log on to betterhelp.com when you get home.

A nice hike in the mountains? Great idea. Sort of like Mao‘s Long March to avoid the forces of Chiang Tsi-shek and preserve the People‘s Liberation Army for future battles. Capital suggestion commrade 😉
People seem to actually think I take myself seriously 😲. This IS my therapy friend

The team was never a true playoff contender or even East contender so... not sure why we were supposed to expect more?

This was almost as embarrassing of a loss as Georgia State but I honestly don't care too much (providing they don't lose next week). Playoffs never seemed real to someone who just a little bit ago was a laughing stock of a program. 9-3 is what I expected, so 10-2 would be great and we got over the Florida AND Bama humps. This loss would hurt if this was year 4 of Huep but these guys were overachieving a lot this year. I'll take a win over Bama and a loss to SC, no matter how ugly. It's possible that Tenn missed the playoffs anyway. Sure, what happens next week and next year if Banks or Martinez aren't canned will affect how I see the future but honestly I'm not dead inside like some of yall lol. I've had too much fun this year being ahead of schedule.

My hopes for this season was to not be demolished by Bama, play UF close and escape UGA alive. We have FAR exceeded reasonable expectations for this season.
