I’d be willing to bet if we were sitting at 8-3 with losses to Bama, LSU, and UGA? Everyone would call the season a success already. Coming into the season, I recall distinctly a large portion of this board predicting 8-4 with losses to UGA, Bama, and 2 possible losses between UK/LSU/USC/Mizzou—and, considering we’re in a year two of a new regime, that would be the makings for a great season.
Now we’re sitting at 9-2 with losses to UGA and USC, and it’s suddenly a failure? I mean, come on guys.
I get it. It sucks. It’s super disappointing to go from CFB to possible NY6 bowl in the span of 60 minutes. But to pivot to that suddenly being a failure? If you’re only metric in a clear rebuild is to make the playoff to consider a season a success? Most seasons will be a failure and we’ll just continue to cycle through coaches because short of a playoff birth will be considered so.
