Lets say if you were a recruit being recruited by Tennessee. Which would be one of the biggest factors in picking or passing on the Vols?

1. Facilties second to none and great fan support?

2. A team that has been less than mediocre and not on the national scene?

3. Possibilty of early playing time and great tradition?

I know that alot of recruits lean on their family to help them make the decisions but lets not debate that. please answer this...

Probably playing time and the facilities. A jump start in a 5-star program.

It doesn't make sense does it.....Here is a recruited that has chemistry with the staff and coaches that shows up on message boards or in Knoxville to here that these coaches are nothing but sorry and are gone as soon as they can get the support to help them out of town...

Whether it be in the media or whereever we are getting killed by the negativity......on visits, internet and several people in the media that are serving there agenda....

When a kid shows up from TX or FL or GA and hears this it has to sour in his stomach.....

If there was only one single factor that determined why a recruit signs with Tennessee Dooley would have a number 1 class every year.

Just as with everyone in life, decisions are made based on their own perspective

Everything you listed is a factor.....not just one single line....Add to it Education....Career Field Choices such as broadcasting.....

ade to it treatment for injuries, rehab and recovery....

I think people forget sometimes that this isnt a video game that you recruit on. Kids being recruited are all unique and have their own personal interest.

What makes you choose a school is of corse alot of factors. Most the time when you go to visit you see some of the players. You relize really fast these guys are alot bigger than you ( @17) so you dont become so interested in playing day 1. Move that down, you mostly just want your fair chance of getting your shot once you get the added size and age. That comes along with trusting the coaches you work with through out the process.

Facilties are cool but after you go to a few schools you relize they dont mean jack. Miami has always had not so great looking stuff for thier practices and weight lifting. That never relaly stopped them from being big and fast though. There is plenty of schools like TN that play hop skotch with we have the best Facilties this year and two years later you dont.

Alot of it i think is just what feeling you get around the school and people. You can go to about any school in the SEC and on that day you think its a nice campus. Then you go to Clemson and your like wtf why would i go anywhere but Clemson. The campus is great, but after you get home and a few days removed you start weighing all the pros and cons of each. Kinda like the Facilties your not always going to to pick the best and pretty campus' but they do make you like those schools so they stay in your top list alot of times.

Last big part is just what the vibe of each program is around your inner circle. Highschool coaches, parents, and friends. Some HS coaches do not like some D-1 Football coaches and probably hard for a school to recruit from that coach. Some coaches will come off as the biggest scum in the world to your mom also. Just gotta remember its a bunch of 17 year olds that people are throwing tons of lies at. i think Dooley does a good job recruiting because of how likeable he can be much in the same that Fulmer was when he met parents.

Sure will play along!

If that's the case, I'd probably go to Bama or Auburn. They pay more.:p

Serious answer, I would pick Tennessee and it's the same reason why I went to school there in the first place. I loved it.

My first consideration would be the direction of the progam. I want to go to a place that will give me an opportunity to win a ring that I can show off to my children and grandchildren one day. This would be the basis for naming my top 8 to 10 schools.

To narrow the list, I'd take a close look at the town in which I'll be spending the next 4 years of my life. I would consider girls, weather, and overall quality of life. That would probably cut the list down to 5 or so.

To form my top 3, I'd look at a combination of early playing time, how I relate to the head coach, and how comfortable I feel with the person coaching my posiition (can this coach make me a better player than the coach at school x, y z).

From that point it would boil down to proximity to home and the relationships that I have formed throughout the recruiting process with players, coaches, and fellow recruits.

I'd say #3 along with the Knoxville General Area! Plus the idea of playing in Neyland on Saturdays is hard to pass up! Combine those with a coach who is against all odds and the grain and you get good recruiting classes. Like it or not, Dooley and UT is a very good match and a great recruiting pitch!

from your list, facilities would be a larger factor than the other 2 IMO.

relationship with the coaching staff and distance from home are the top 2 items year end and year out.
