Playoffs Thread-First Round.

He was 2-3 this past weekend

They can be tough to pick sometimes. Whether they're evenly matched or you haven't seen much of em. Every once in a while there is a fight where you're just like 100% of the outcome. You probably wouldn't get much of a return but Jones over Sonnen is about as sure thing as you'll get. It would be a massive upset if Bones loses for his first time ever to Chael. That card is actually pretty good too but still have one more card this weekend before it finally takes place. Feels like the fight was made forever ago but ironically, time flew by.

Ah, yeah... she's been in the hospital since friday and started chemo last night. She has a collapsed lung from the tumor blocking the airway and the tumor is cancerous. Her lungs filled up with fluids so they drained her lungs and there was no cancer in the fluids, urine or blood. Also none in the brain. The last test was done yesterday to see if there was cancer anywhere else in the body. The doctors who looked at it didn't see anything but they needed someone else to look at it today to make sure. I haven't heard anything since and I'm hoping it's not anywhere else. They're planning on using radiation to shrink the tumor but they can only do it if the cancer is just in the tumor. They can't do it if it has spread throughout her body which makes things more complicated and I'm assuming lowers the odds of treating it. None of it's good but if there was anything good about it, it would be that it's only in the tumor. That's what smoking for like 40 years does I guess. I rode her to at least slow down but she wouldn't listen. Constantly stressed out and chain smoked. So... yeah, I've been spending time with my grandpa. He lost my grandma like 2 months ago and now his daughter has cancer. It's just been one big pile of s***. :/

Will do, thanks man. I'm really hoping it's nowhere else. If that's the case then I believe they said she'd have to do outpatient coming back 3 days a week for 18 weeks to do chemo. That seems like forever and especially going there 3 times a week.

Holy fsck. My mom had breast cancer a few years ago and I completely lost my shat for awhile. This sounds way worse than anything she had. (Yet.) Best of everything to you and your family. Cancer fscking sucks.

Appreciate it.

It's tough for sure and yeah, I was messed up the first couple of days after finding out. I kind of thought she had it for about a year or so because of the way she had been coughing. So, I kind of expected it but still wasn't prepared for it. It sounds like they have a good shot at treating it but it's cancer so I guess you never know.

At least the playoffs are coming up and that will help occupy my mind a bit. My mom really only watches NFL and the Iowa Hawkeyes(we pull against them haha) but I've gotten her to watch Vol football, Vol basketball and the Pacers in the playoffs in the past. So I might use the playoffs as another reason to spend some time with her haha. She gets caught up in it a bit because she knows I want them to win. So I'm hoping they let her go home soon and I'll get to spend some time with her.

Anyways... playoffs start tomorrow and I'm looking forward to that. Boston/NY, Memphis/LAC, Nuggets/Warriors and Bulls/Nets. I think all could go to 7. I don't think they all will but I think they match up well.

I have even more incentive to root for the Pacers in the East, like I didn't need any more of it. Thoughts and prayers to you TOP.

Thanks for all of the prayers. My mom did chemo for the third day in a row and I believe she has 3 weeks off now before doing 3 days a week for 18 weeks. They drained fluids again and they've started hearing some air in the collapsed lung. On top of the cancerous tumor that's blocking her airway and the collapsed lung, she has an infection in her lungs which they've been giving her antibiotics for. I believe once they get that taken care of she'll be able to go home. I thought that would be the easiest thing to take care of but after being there a week on antibiotics it's a bit disconcerting that it hasn't gone away.

At least the playoffs start tomorrow. I saw that Noah is out for the series against the Nets so assuming Rose doesn't return, the Nets should roll over the Bulls. And aside from the Boston/New York rivalry pumping both teams up, I wonder if everything that has taken place will give the Celtics more motivation? I have a feeling the the fan support will be crazy. Something to take their mind off of everything that happened even if it is only for a couple hours.

I love these match ups. Especially out West. So many story lines.

1. OKC vs Houston-Harden against his old team. OKC in 5.

2. Spurs vs Lakers-Two beat up former champs trying to make a run. Spurs in 6.

3. Denver vs Golden State-Two teams that play exciting basketball. Denver in 6.

4. Clippers vs Grizzlies-Which team can take the next step in a great rematch from last year. Grizzlies in 7.

In the East it's a clearer picture.

1. Miami vs Milwaukee-The Bucks aren't winning this series but may present a few matchup problems. Miami in 5.

2. Knicks vs Celtics-Classic matchup between two heated rivals. Knicks in 6.

3. Pacers vs Hawks-Can Atlanta push Indiana? Pacers in 6.

4. Nets vs Bulls-Can Chicago make a respectable run without their star player? Bulls in 7.
I like all the same teams you do to advance, but I doubt each conference will play out symmetrically. There will be at least one sweep, probably by Miami.

Knicks in 5
Nets in 6
Pacers in 6
heat in 4
---------------

Okc in 5
Spurs in 6
Nuggets in 7
Clipps in 7

The Heat may not lose 4 games in the whole playoffs, but I'd love to see a good 7 game series with NY beating Miami.

OKC may get upset in the second round regardless of who they play

Thorpe from true hoop tv picked us in 6. Unlike many of these commentators he seems a lot more knowledgeable about our team. I suspect most of these guys have only watched us during national games.

Thorpe said Conely is the key.

Yep. I think Jackie does a great job on that show.

I am not a fan of jimmele hill though.

Yeah, she seems to make everything about racism. If you hate Michael Vick it's because he's a black QB and people don't want a black QB to succeed. ESPN has other people that pull crap like that too. And it's like, no, that's not really the reason... it's because I think he's deplorable ha. You'd be made to believe Ben Roethlisberger was given a free pass or something. As if half the country wasn't calling him Rapelisberger. But yeah, she tends to play the race card a lot when there are legit reasons to dislike an athlete.

If the subject was Rae Carruth she'd probably bring up the fact he's black and some of the people that dislike him are racist. As if disliking him because he murdered his pregnant girlfriend isn't worthy of dislike on it's on merit. Nope, some of the people also have to dislike him because he's black if you ask her. Haha.

Maybe that's not the reason you dislike her but she's ridiculous and it gets old that half of her arguments are about racism.

The starters for Grizz and Clippers are neck and neck. With the playoffs starting, Del Negro will have to tighten his rotation. The X-Factor in this series is both team's benches. The Grizz need one of Bayless, Pondexter, or DA to step up and be the leader off the bench.

Well as a black man I personally understand pulling the occasional race card, but hills card is nothing but dust due to overuse. That's why she can get to STEPPIN.

She does make a point from time to time.
