Vols senior tight end Ethan Wolf didnt seem to care about that, though.
Wolf said moments after the loss that he and his teammates want to play for Jones, and that they dont plan on listening to anyone outside the program who claims otherwise
I mean, half the people that talk about it dont really
you know, theyve never been in the situation that were in and dont really know what to think about it, said Wolf, who finished with 45 yards and one touchdown on three catches against Mizzou. When you spend so much time with people, and they spend so much time investing in you, then you support them. Whether the public doesnt [support them], it doesnt matter. Were all behind Coach Jones, and were gonna play for him.
Nobody here wants to see him leave, if thats what anybody out there thinks. We respect him as a coach, and we wish that we could do better for us and for him.
The Vols now need to beat LSU and Vanderbilt at Neyland Stadium the next two weeks in order to guarantee bowl-eligibility.
