Players Let Go?

Marijuana=Gateway drug reminds me of how people refer to Tampa 2 as a defensive scheme or the Spread offense. It's just a catchphrase that oversimplifies things. Yes, people who smoke pot sometimes move on to other drugs. It wasn't the weed that made them do it, though.

I understand that the cannabanoids in pot can help mask some steroids.

Everyone has to have a hobby, so if burning one is your thing so be it.
But I dated a girl, not to long ago, that had started smoking the green when she was a wee teen, and now she has had a stint in rehab for coke, and other stuff. Has a kid, and a big time ho bag.

Of course I fell for the I turned my life around bla bla, but when your blazing one in front of your two year old with the I dont' give a eff attitude...thats not cool.

I mean I get absolutely obliterated beyond talking drunk, but I'm responsible. If I had a kid things like that would change. Of course, I've got only two things on my record. Speeding and ugh lol Indecent Exposure in a Womens Bathing Suit in PCB.

This thread is so misleading. The stuff on topic is most likely BS, and the rest is off topic Bologna about smoking pot.

Wake me up when football season starts please.

The only thing wrong with marijuana is the fact that it is illegal, is harmful to the lungs and can be a demotivator if abused. Heck, even the bad effects on the lungs can be avoided. The only difference between the guy who goes home and smokes pot compared to the guy that goes home and drinks a 6 pack is in the eyes of a flawed system.

Yes it is illegal just as drinking a 6 pack of beer or one beer for that matter if you are under 21. So both are illegal. There is NO gray area here. If you break a law then you should pay the price. The system isn't flawed if both are illegal!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

As long as it's a voluntary workout with no coaches present - no problem. But the poster was saying coaches were there kicking off people and Coach O told Rico to leave. I call bs on all that.

Its not BS. And if anyone were to puke or put their hands on their hips it was an extra 2 more hundred yard sprints. Waggner puked and Gjones tried to help him up, and they had to run two more. EJAW was also one of the ones that puked.

If I know more about weed than you I can have the opinion that you are ignorant on the subject compared to me. Its just an opinion-we all have them. Im sure there are some things that you would say Im ignorant about. This is not the place for feelings getting knocked out mi amigo.

Here is exactly what you said....
gateway drug? Cmon Mr. Reagan give me a break. That term is such a pet peeve of mine. Cigarettes and coffee are gateway drugs. You sir are ignorant. I advise you to get a clue.

That is not the same as saying you know more then me about the subject. That is calling me ignorant. Trust me you didn't hurt my feelings I could care less what someone I don't know thinks about me. I just don't think because my opinion differs from you that it makes either one of us ignorant and there is no need in using such a derogatory term. Most likely we just have a different interpetation of what "gateway" means and you just don't like the word as you understand it. Gateway is a very general term and I used it as such.

btw, Mr. Reagan was a great man and a great American so you can me Mr Reagan any day all day.

I’m not trying to be argumentative….. but how are the coaches out hitting the recruiting trail around the clock & overseeing workouts?

It is laughable on how some people still view weed. Someone should read a book. Its not harmful, its not addicting, it doesn't "ruin" lives. My uncle has smoked for more than 25 years...its bs to say anything negative of it. It just simply makes everything much more fun.

it's basic common sense that weed is much less harmful than other drugs and its use is much more widespread. whether another drug could take it's place in the arbitrary position of "gateway drug" is irrelevant, the fact is that decriminalization of marijuana would essentially remove the effect from the safest and most commonly used substance available, which is clearly desirable to what you have now. indifferent face.

Both laws don't reflect the culture of our society and cause overcrowding in jails and for the legal system to get bogged down. Lot's of things have been illegal that shouldn't be and lot's of things have been legal that should be. Our country has a history of inconsistencies when it comes to the legalization of substances. You are naieve if you think these laws are only in place to protect you.

Should our players be smokin' herb? No. Will it lead to crack cocaine and sharing needles in the lockerroom? No.

Exactly my point..thanks!

I never said it would have our players in needles. Where did you read where I or anyone else said that? The only thing I have said is that marijuana is a gateway drug. That is a fact not something I believe personally but a fact. Maybe you don't believe that and that's ok I could care less, but don't take a snipet of my post and try to make it look like I said something that I never even remotely come close to saying. It is a fact not an opinion based on a small sample size but I am not hear to debate marijuana and it's effects. I have an opinion and you have an opinion that doesn't make me right or you wrong. It also doesn't make me ignorant like another poster stated.

A fact that everyone of my friends and myself have done it for years and never done (or had any interest) in doing anything else. I know that is your opinion, but it is a misinformed opinion of someone who has no true idea about MJ.

It has it's drawbacks. It is harmful to your lungs unless smoked out of a vaporizer. It also has harmful effects on the reproductive system. Like anything, it can cause financial and emotional problems if abused. All in all, the risks/drawbacks are minor for a drug and it does have some fun uses. It is also a beautiful plant when grown properly.

Very true. I do have a vaporizer though.

If you look at some of the research or watch a few documentaries, the lower sperm count for the most part is complete myth.

With all that being said, it should not be used by anyone playing any sort of sports. Your career, life, education is much more important. I have partaken in it often, but I also have a college degree and a good job. Good post :eek:k:

Athletes with that much opportunity should be smarter. I also enjoy it as a way to relax with my wife when we aren't busy or on vacation and have no reason not to. I'm sure it will be different once we have kids. Vaporizer is the way to go. You're right about the sperm count but it can damage/change genetics. I've also known people who were deathly allergic. Sucked for them......

BTW, you'd love Gainesville. It's a whole different level down here for that.

If you use a Vaporizer, you essentially eliminate every bad physical effect. That is, with the lungs. It still screws with your nervous system though. It effects neurotransmitters in your brain.

If I knew my career/education/etc was in jeopardy just from smoking a plant (or anything else that could harm my opportunity), I wouldn't come within 10 miles of whatever it is. Its one of those things when these guys get older they will regret. I do not think they have a full grasp of what has been offered to them.
