Players Let Go?

QUOTE=Midfielder10;2024668]If you use a Vaporizer, you essentially eliminate every bad physical effect. That is, with the lungs. It still screws with your nervous system though. It effects neurotransmitters in your brain.[/QUOTE]

I called that being high

It is laughable on how some people still view weed. Someone should read a book. Its not harmful, its not addicting, it doesn't "ruin" lives. My uncle has smoked for more than 25 years...its bs to say anything negative of it. It just simply makes everything much more fun.

Smoking marijuana effects everyone differently as does alcohol. There are some who can drink on a fairly regular schedule and never become alcoholics whereas there are others who become addicted seemingly from their first sip. Marijuana is generally not considered to be a highly physically addictive drug like most illicit drugs, however a relatively small percentage of people do become psychologically addicted. One size doesn't fit all when it comes to drugs.

dantheman's uncle - age 45.

Just having fun dan.

Back on topic for a sec. When I was playing ball we had "voluntary" practices all summer long. You didn't have to be there just the same as you didn't have to be on the team. Coaches can supervise the voluntary's and they can give you a outline of what you have to do during them. But, they can't coach you during them.

A fact that everyone of my friends and myself have done it for years and never done (or had any interest) in doing anything else. I know that is your opinion, but it is a misinformed opinion of someone who has no true idea about MJ.

Dude I am quite sure I know more about the subject then most and I am certainly not misinformed. That being said I also do not preach agaist it. I believe everyone has the right to make their own choices in life and if a person wants to smoke pot then so be it. The only point I ever tried to make was that when hosting a recruit or when driving over the speed limit with an open container of alcohol is probably not a good time to burn one.

Thanks for trying to get this thread back on topic. Hopefully it will work & the drug talk can move to a diffferent forumn.

Agreed but all of this talk about smoking weed sure does make me want to break out my bong :dance2:

The only thing wrong with marijuana is the fact that it is illegal, is harmful to the lungs and can be a demotivator if abused. Heck, even the bad effects on the lungs can be avoided. The only difference between the guy who goes home and smokes pot compared to the guy that goes home and drinks a 6 pack is in the eyes of a flawed system.

Amen!

Haven't you heard? We've officially decreed that pot is not a drug. At least, not a real man's drug like coke or meth....:whistling:

Wow I thought this was a post about football players but after reading the threads I am debating going out and buying Cheech & Chong Up In Smoke. I was raised in the 60's and 70's and pot was very common and many smoked and grew it. I am no Bill Clinton because I did inhale along with many other drugs such as LSD, Opium, Hash Oil, Shrooms, Microdot, Qualudes, Window Pane, Coke and various other narcotics. Was pot the gateway? no it was my addictive personality. Some people only smoke dope or drink or none of the above but the bottomline is everyone is different and it is more about the person and their personality then the drug. If the government could legalize pot and monitor the sale like alcohol it would be legal today. More lives are destroyed from drunk drivers then smoking pot and thats not an opinion but a fact.

Smoking pot is illegal. Everyone knows that. Is it a big deal that players are smoking pot? In the grand scheme of things, the answer is no. HOWEVER, what IS important is that the players on this team learn that if they want to continue to be on this team, then they follow the COACHING STAFF's rules, not their own. It's about fostering an environment of self and team discipline. Such an environment has been nonexistent in Knoxville for many, many years.

The whole Rico thing sounds like a test to me. An opportunity for Rico to step up, work hard, improve, and lead his team to glory. I'm willing to bet our current staff are hella motivators.

What is a vaporizer? It sounds pretty cool. I might take up this pot.

don't do it! Next thing you know you'll be giving favors for your next hit of crack. Pot is the gateway.

(man that really loses all humor on a family-friendly board :ermm:)

Neurotransmitters control the levels of Serotonin in the brain. As most of you scholars of the ganja know, Serotonin increases in the brain when you smoke, giving you the high. However, your brain will adapt to the increase in Serotonin levels and decide not to produce as much. That is why you have to smoke more to get a high the more you use. Then, when you stop smoking, your brain no longer produces the level needed for proper emotional function(felling good) then comes the depression. That leads a person to smoke more to "feel normal". That, my scholars of the ganja, is addiction.

Source?

you mean something that proves this is measurable and true? I would be interested too.

My extensive lab research in college revealed neither depression nor addiction but not sure it was very scientific.

yes, yes my research had very similar results, and I consider it highly scientific.

gateway drug? Cmon Mr. Reagan give me a break. That term is such a pet peeve of mine. Cigarettes and coffee are gateway drugs. You sir are ignorant. I advise you to get a clue.

Should our players be smokin' herb? No. Will it lead to crack cocaine and sharing needles in the lockerroom? No.

I spent about 10 years in addiction and the past 6 working in a treatment center. Marijuana is without a doubt a gateway drug. It may be a term that you don't care for, but that doesn't change reality. If anyone should get a clue it should be you.

yes, marijuana is a gateway drug, but more for its social implications than anything else... it can also be proven that alcohol is a gateway drug (how many people you know smoke weed but have never had a drink?)... To say that Marijuana is a gateway drug seems to imply that if you smoke weed you will all of a sudden feel this need to try Heroine or something.... When in reality, the gateway drug is simply the lifestyle... Chances are, none of us drank alcohol before we were exposed it and saw other people drinking it, same goes for weed, and same goes for harder drugs...
