You are correct on some changes on the defensive side of the ball. New DL coach, Felton to outside LBs, Neids moved from TE to ILB. Coordinators stayed the same. Im not arguing that as fans we don't have room to complain (or shouldnt), im just saying we are making it a little more simple and that Pruitt forgot how to coach.

I think one of Pruitt's mistakes is hiring coaches who are known more as recruiters than developers. You have to have a balance and I don't think we have that.

Last season the entire defense couldn't line up properly until game 5.

That would be the fault of the coordinator more than the position coaches.

I can certainly agree with that, and I'm honestly not sure where we fall with that right now. I will say that I think Rocker was a good developer as a DL coach. You had some of the same people in this thread screaming to fire him because he couldn't (or didn't) recruit well.

Exactly. Our D-line became a strength last year and a liability this year.

Pruitt made a mistake letting Rocker go. I'm also not convinced Ansley has a clue being a DC. Nieds should be moved back to offense, and Weike and Friend need to be shown the door.

What about quarters defense where they fake like they are in man coverage the first 7 yards?

I played the hardest position in rugby, which is equivalent to the QB.

In rugby there is no blocking, so there never is a "clean" pocket. You better have a good idea of what you're going to do with the ball before you get it.
You learn to use the defensive players' aggression against themselves, i.e., pump fake.
If the play you call doesn't look like it is going to work as intended, you improvise.
If you know what you're doing, the defense doesn't dictate sh*t. The defense only has the upper hand when you are predictable.
Try getting hit 100 times in an 80 minute game (you play both ways in rugby), in addition to acquiring new injuries while carrying over the injuries incurred from the past weeks.

Winners know what it takes to win.

You are being extremely unfair. Everyone knows that a coach needs no less than four years to implement his system, we can't judge JG and the backups for at least three more seasons. Also, Henry T can't possibly be expected to know how to defend a pass play when our corners haven't learned how to defend a slant. How can you possibly suggest that another qb be expected to grasp our playbook that is at least 6 plays deep in three years or not overthrow a receiver by 20 yards? We are on the cusp of greatness. Every successful NCAA coach looks worse in year three than he did in year one!

I think Tennessee needs to hire a much better coach coach.

The coaching development seems to be regressing bigly. Whoever is in charge of the Pruitt development needs to be fired.
