pit bulls i hate em

Who said they should all be euthanized? Alls I'm sayin' is when you approach a pit, regardless of the situation or their reputation, you should be cautious. And pit owners should be extra cautious about how they control their animal.

I do not like seeing pits off lead in the dog park. It makes me nervous.

I saw a pit bite the neck of a collie in Victor Ashe dog park a couple years ago and the owners had to take the dog to the emergency room. The owner put the pit on a leash for a few minutes, with blood dripping down it's chin, and then took him back off minutes later.

Owners like this should be euthanized.

I guess I was directing it towards those who feel that way. I know there was one in a FF thread. I don't know about legalities and dog parks, but I think if a dog attacks another dog for no reason there should be consequences.

Rottweilers are another breed that gets a bad rep. I own a Rott mix, and I love him, but I'm not gonna sit here like sc and claim that it's completely unwarranted.

The thing is, Rottweilers are really protective. They are not generally as aggressive as pits can be, but if they're raised in an environment that isn't nurturing, they can be. Rocky is great with kids and people, but I know there are situations that he wouldn't behave well in.

He can be dog aggressive, but he's too much of a puss to actually bite another dog, and he only shows aggression in a limited number of scenarios. One scenario is with pit bulls. Nice or mean, he hates pit bulls and great danes.

The hatred for pits is warranted, as he lived down the street from some really dog aggressive pits for a couple years. The hatred for great danes is probably just because they are big as fuggin horses, and he doesn't know what to do about a dog that's actually bigger than he is.

Wasn't saying that everything is false about SOME of your and others concerns. Merely stating facts about my first hand knowledge. I have owned over 12 different pit-bulls as well as been around hundreds some nice others that needed attitude adjustments. Over all I still believe that they are a loving breed if they are raised in the right way. Thrasher you have valid points, of this i'm sure but even you have to agree my points due warrant some merit

I don't know why the site has boxers on the list. Boxers aren't aggressive. People think boxers are mean because of their stocky appearance. I've had four boxers and they are highly intelligent and loving animals. I've been around tons of dogs and this is by far the best breed evar. And of course, this is just my opinion. :p

I don't know, the stats come from the CDC.
My Sister has had 3 and they were all great with the kids.

I've always had Malamutes, (they're listed too) and the kids would pull their tail, ears, nose, try to ride them, never had a problem.

In the CDC studies, most dogs that bite had 3 things in common: male, unneutered and chained.

I think that Pit Bulls get their reputation because the majority are brought up in an urban environment.

Small/no yard, kept in the house, chained on the porch, etc. Sooner or later, they are going to get loose.

Huskies and Malamutes are friendly dogs. Can't believe they're on the list.

Pits are dumb, overly protective, and too aggressive towards other dogs. I had a Pit and a yellow Lab, one day during feeding time the Pit decided that it wanted what was in the lab's dish and a fight broke out. The lab was a old male and the pit was a jip (young female) she had a pretty good bite so I broke a broom over her nose and picked her up over my head and slammed her into the ground, maybe a bit cruel but she was a good dog after that.

I didn't think a female dog would attack a male dog or vice versa but I was wrong

Dogs are smart and instinctive but everything can change in a second. Dogs do dumb shiz same as humans. Two Malamutes ate one of my small dogs stomach out killing it when I was young. Huskies and Malamutes are more wolf type dogs adapted to be domesticated these days. I had a Husky wasn't the smartest animal but was real sweet and smart for her breed. All dogs can snap and do awful things the same humans can do.
