Pig Howard dismissed from team...

The ncaa has a drug problem .

Why in the hell can u be allowed to fail 5 drug tests

Also why the hell is cocaine and weed considered the same punishment

He gave his all on the field, but bc of rules that won't even exist a few years from now, he can't play. Still, pig ****ed up and no one is more aware of that than pig, but to say that he's gonna be flipping burgers bc he failed some dt's is casting ancient stereotypes that old codgers still belive to be true.

Define a few. I'll bet UT will still be drug (marijuana) testing players for many years to come.

I work for a company that has offices in Colorado. You can still fail and be fired for marijuana in Colorado. It's still illegal, even in Colorado (on a Federal level).

It will be even more sad if they don't offer to get him help and counseling if he's willing. I'm just hoping they don't forget about him now that he's off the team. He did contribute quite a lot during the time he was here.

If the university doesn't, I hope he gets help on his own (if he is depressed or mixed up).
I stand by upholding rules but Pig was still one of my personal favorites.
Good luck to him.

And even though I'm not happy with Butch's on the field performance, I do believe he handled this situation properly. Based on VolBalla's post, Pig was already depressed and the last thing he needed was having his problems exposed to the media and everyone else, so it was for the better that Butch covered it up with injuries.

Sounds to me like Butch getting rid of his most vocal critic on the team in a desperate attempt to galvanize a win to save his job

Name a "vocal critic" on Saban or Meyer's team...that are STILL on the team. They've been successful so that "vocal critic" would be stupid, but you remember the aftermath of McCarron's grousing down there...no returning player joined the club. Bielema wrote some checks his teams couldn't cash early on...hear anything? Name me a coach that allows internal dissent and I'll find out which network (or furniture store) he works for. :wink2:

Couple of rumors out there:
1. He has been off the team for 2 weeks. Butch has been lying about injuries.
2. Pig chose to leave, he was not kicked off the team until he did not show up for practice for 2 weeks.
3. Pig left because of coaching issues. I do not know if this is position coach or head coach.

These are all rumors. I do not know if any are true. If they are true true. these would be signs of a sinking ship!

One day very soon football is going to have to look in the mirror and face this cannabis persecution. Most of the country will be legal in the next couple of years. It's better for thier bodies than alcohol and lower risk of addiction. In the mean time it's illegal and against team rules so you should be able to control your self enough to pass a test. Smh. Thank you for your efforts pig. You are a bad ass and a VFL as far as I'm conserved.

No kidding. He was our best WR IMO. Was fearless, clutch, and other intangibles.

This could get ugly. Fans saying "good riddance" to one of our best players is just absurd.

Failing a drug test for the 5th time (if true) is what's absurd.

It's this kind of player stupidity that has been hurting the program. Who didn't see this coming---I was very skeptical of the injury excuse, as were others. Kid misses his senior season because of making dumb decisions REPEATEDLY. Hell, we came close to losing Pearson to questionable behavior, too. Howard is a big reason why the passing game has struggled. The WR corp that looked loaded in August is now thin!

Did you just use disgraced former Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders as your source of information? Sorry, not credible.

Btw....love when all the potheads come out of the woodwork when a player fails a drug test. Lol.

please, i post to provide a discussion and provide another view point, it has nothing to do with being an avid smoker for over 15 years, holding a college degree and having a career in the development of medical devices......

I had a feeling the concussion like symptoms was complete bs. He probably hasn't taken a hard hit all year. Saturday is gonna be rough.

If you're scoring at home Howard's exit means there are seven players left from Tennessee's 22-player 2012 signing class.

Legal or not, policy is policy. Whether it's a company or University.

Yep.
Several companies don't allow smoking cigarettes on grounds and they're legal.
You can either follow their rules or move on to something else. You don't have to agree with them but you also don't have to go there.
