Pig Howard dismissed from team...

Some of you guys will look for any reason to bash Butch. This one is likely on Pig. He should have to face the consequences.

If CBJ (or anyone) is going to build UT back to a dominant SEC or national power, he needs to do it with players who are willing to buy in to the mission, to invest themselves in getting the job done. If a player is not willing to follow the rules, no matter how talented he is, he should be dismissed. It sounds as if there was good reason to kick him off the team and if that is so, then I am glad CBJ booted him. Good work, coach. You have to weed out the bad influences and nurture the leaders. The rest of you can say what you want, but I would not want a Jameis Winston/Lawrence Philips/Maurice Clarett type star anchoring the Vols. I much prefer the Peyton Manning/Al Wilson type to lead us to the promised land.

Yea cause I'm sure that's what caused him to fail so many drug tests........SMDH, go somewhere else n ***** n moan about our coach cause quite frankly it's gettin very damn old around here!!

Maybe all y'all that want a new coach can go start your own forum n have a miserable life together!!! If ya don't have nything nice to say just don't say nything at all geeez guys come on n give it a freakin break!!!!

Unless you're an alter for Freak, I'm not sure where you think your authority to dictate which posters should leave comes from. Last I looked, all opinions we're accepted here. Perhaps you are the one out of place if you cannot accept other people have different opinions.

Pig hasn't been with the team for awhile now. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Best of luck to him in his future endeavors, whatever they may be.

The fact that you are saying it's a stereotype shows how you view the world. I personally don't care what color a persons skin is. I just simply made a educated guess/troll on what his future is. So maybe un kink your panties and play ball.
Accidental like when trying to click quote. But Lmfao...nice to see what direction you took that in. I didn't even mention race or skin color nor did I imply anything. I was talking about the stereotypes of weed smokers.

Weed is def addictive. It doesn't cause the same behavior/symptoms as alcohol, opiate, or stimulant addiction, but it is def addictive. Go up to your local state or county probation office and ask how many of them have violated for smoking weed. If risking 7 years of prison (or risking your football career) to smoke weed doesn't show signs of addiction, I don't know what does.

I would also agree that weed is is not benevolent to someone's mind and body, but it's not near as rough as alcohol is on someone. If alcohol etg testing were performed, you would find just as many, if not more, people that would fail and lose their jobs, violate probation/parole, etc, bc there are just as many people that can't stop drinking.

The argument is that an addiction to weed is not nearly as harmful or addictive as alcohol, or other illegal drugs.

the major difference is the addiction mental or physical, marijuana is not physically addictive....

Former Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders characterized marijuana succinctly on CNN recently, while declaring her support for legalization: “Marijuana is not addictive, not physically addictive anyway"

It is on Pig and Butch certainly shouldn't be bashed for Pig's stupid actions. I think any criticism Butch is getting concerning this matter relates to saying Pig has been out due to nagging injuries...only to be abruptly dismissed from the team today.

I have come to know Pig over the last year. He's a very nice guy but he had a habit of using whatever he could to try to forget... Something. I don't know what it is, the guy is very quiet, but he seems rather depressed and like he is self medicating with drugs. The Sunday after the South Carolina game, I watched SNF with him and he declined to take any credit for the game. Truth of the matter is, he's a kid in need, and wasn't in the right mental state to play football. I hope the best for him in his future but this is probably for the best as his head always seemed to be somewhere else. Good luck to the guy, I'm rooting for you Pig.

That's actually pretty sad :/

Did you just use disgraced former Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders as your source of information? Sorry, not credible.

Btw....love when all the potheads come out of the woodwork when a player fails a drug test. Lol.

This is true. Butch's coaching is open for debate, but history would suggest Pig brought this on himself. If he indeed failed another drug test, dismissal was warranted.

It's been a couple of years and nothing has changed. The Vols are still a mediocre team in a bad conference to be mediocre in and players are still getting kicked off the team doing what undisciplined 18-21 year olds do regularly (unfortunately).
I'll drop back by in a couple of years and see if anything changes besides the coach. Adios.
P.S. I didn't notice any threads dedicated to bashing Fulmer. I'm guessing hindsight and a string of disappointing seasons has improved his legacy.

It will be even more sad if they don't offer to get him help and counseling if he's willing. I'm just hoping they don't forget about him now that he's off the team. He did contribute quite a lot during the time he was here.

Thanks for that, some nice perspective for a young man facing some serious issues. God bless him.

What continues to blow my mind is the conspiracy theory craziness that is this board and Knoxville sports talk radio. Butch lied and he was dismissed for injuries, criticism, etc. Some will not be happy - well ever for that matter - some will not be happy until the whole program is on fire and in shambles and they then get their super magic coach who will never ever lose and will make them the king of the water cooler Monday morning. I worried about this when everybody drank the media BS kook aid about winning the east and going 10-2. We are one year away from barely being in the regular season at 6-6 with many playing today who were in high school last year or were freshmen thrown in to the fire.
