Phillips and Tuttle say “all weren’t bought in”

I say give outright release to any player not wanting to pay the price to get Tennessee back on top. I’d cut several regardless what they claim. Coaches know damn well who the quitters are. One thing I’d be able to say next August if I’m Jeremy Pruitt is that “these guys won’t quit on us”

You are right!...Pruitt knew during the entire season and he knows who is not bought in...so I would guess some will leave including JG.

Even if we go winless next year Pruitt needs to clean house of the cancer on the team, whatever it takes

Don’t go changing. And Phil is quiet.[/QUOTE]
How do you know whether he has addressed this with the team or coaches?

Do you seriously expect the AD of an SEC school to publicly address this? That's not his job.

Statements like this amaze me. It's as if we expect CPF to down a few and download his brain on VN.

You are right though. We aren’t owed any explanation for that performance or any speculation by actual team members. Hope that sits with you ok.

I predicted a 5-7 season because the talent level is substandard SEC. I never dreamed players would quit if all these statements are factual.

Failure gets easier with practice and so does success. It is inevitable that some of the players have 'bought into' the culture of failure , and a few have spoken up and refuse to give into this culture. Last season was the worst in the program history , then the firing , then the abomination of a coaching search. You can see the lines on this very board or negativity , positivity, wait and see or just plain ole tapping out. It works the same inside the club house. There is nothing to be done but to build on the success and root out those that have accepted failure as the status quo

After the crap show coaching seach that ended with a guy with 0 experience as a coach, can't blame any player for being skeptical. It's a shame none of the staff was able to make them believe or apparently have fun or any pride in themselves or the program. A huge part of coaching is winning the locker room. It's tough when that is impossible for the staff.
Something that is impossible is not “tough.” It’s impossible.

If this is proven to be true on the part of Brandon Johnson or anyone else on the team, then CJP ought to consider the nuclear option. The nuclear option being the release of those players from the program. Because as I read the NCAA rules, scholarships are renewed annually as opposed to being a guaranteed contract for a longer period of time.
Many on here will remember a few years ago when Tyler Bray held similar sentiments. That attitude is as toxic to a program as it should be terminal for any such player's tenure in the program. If they're not bought in, then they've sold out for self and need to go.

This the crap that piss me off! Dont spread lies about Brandon..I never said he felt that way..If people gonna post on here pls post post facts Vol Nation..Not cool that u slandering these players saying they was toxic because they didnt play...If u dont like Brandon as a player thats cool I cant fault anybody for that, but to sit here and say he was toxic is wrong..He is a great kid never did anything wrong..Pruitt wants Brandon to be Physical like Jennings and Callaway but he just not that player..Like how many wideouts really running over defenders?..Brandon is a finesse wr..Good route runner and has great hands..Running over defenders? Naw thats not him..That's the reason why he didnt play..Had nothing to do with ability..

I have a few theories:
1. They just want to get their degree and move on
2. They realize they have no chance of playing time if they transfer
3. The women here are easy on the eyes.
4. Cafeteria food is amazing.
It's just simple disillusionment. If you were recruited as part of the 2015 class, you've been through:

2015: 9-4 (a few close losses to great teams, lots of reason for optimism for 2016 with veterans returning)
2016: 9-4 (very disappointing end to a season with high expectations, blew a chance to play in SECCG and Sugar Bowl)
2017: 4-8 (worst season in school history)
2018: 5-7 (an up-and-down, frustrating rebuilding year under a new coaching staff)

If you showed up in 2016 or 2017, you've gotta be pretty disillusioned too. Those 2015 recruits in particular bought Butch's sales pitch, had high hopes after their true freshman seasons, but it did nothing but go downhill from there. Then this year, there's a new sheriff in town who's a lot more intense than the previous guy. It's disappointing, but not surprising, that a lot of Butch's guys don't give a s**t. If you're a true freshman in 2018, I'm sure you'd want to beat Vandy and play in a bowl game, but for the guys who have been around this block on this team, a ton of them just don't see why they should care.

I remember saying earlier in the season this team looked to have a lot of players quitting and laying down. People said not to post such things because the players read volnation. Just calling it like I see it. Lotta quitters on this team.

And yet the coaches kept trotting them out there, assuming anyone was laying down and quitting as you claim.

Most coaches would prefer to lose with players giving effort as opposed to losing with guys who dont put forth effort. Of course Pruitt isnt most coaches. It is debatable whether that is a good thing or not. At this moment in time I'm leaning toward not.

Pruitt had a lot on his plate this year, no doubt...DC, OC, player developer, baby coddler, and prime time interviewer...busy man...

GO VOLS...RECRUIT LIKE HECK!
