Phillips and Tuttle say “all weren’t bought in”

We saw players quit last season and they quit again this season too.

I agree we need to cancel their schollies and give those lazy losers the boot.

Pruitt probably would love to kick all of those self-centered guys out too.

Pruitt has a serious problem that keeps him from doing that...NUMBERS.

No matter what, Pruitt simply MUST have the numbers of players it takes to coach and field a team.

We're only allowed to recruit and sign 25 players per year so even if Pruitt wants to get rid of 60 players and replace them he simply can NOT do that because he wouldn't have enough players to practice on a O scout team and a D scout team and still have starters and 2nd stringers to practice and teach against those scout teams.

No matter how badly Pruitt and his staff may want to kick many kids off this team the numbers needed to simply practice correctly won't allow that to happen.

Reality is that it's going to take at least 3 years of good recruiting to get rid of 75 players we now have currently on our team.

Now we have to hope and pray that the cancerous attitudes of laziness and loser mentalities we have now will now spread into the new recruits that Pruitt and this staff bring in.

Our coaching staff is stuck because of the NUMBERS of players they simply MUST have to try to operate and rebuild our footVol Team.

VFL...GBO!!!
Well then play the 25 he recruits and have the others ride the pine

I've been reading through this thread and was waiting on this post.

EXCELLENT job!

It's all about the NUMBERS!

IMO, the ONLY way this will get fixed sooner rather than later, is for LEADERS FROM WITHIN THE TEAM to rise and DEMAND more from their teammates!

It's all about THE TEAM and Coach Pruitt is the HMFIC of this TEAM along with the coaches he chooses for this TEAM!

When this bunch of young men realize that, this TEAM will succeed......................

It's clear that Butch Jones poisoned the well before he left. He hated the entire fan base at the end and did as much damage as he could with recruits and players. Joining the Alabama staff and smoking that ridiculous cigar was revenge for that pathetic little man. Hopefully all the bad apples will be encouraged to transfer out and we will see what Pruitt can over the next two seasons.

Or why didn't CJP give them the boot? Surely he knows who these guys are. If he cleaned house, fans would've backed him. Especially in year 1. Instead, CJP showed that he's willing to allow a cancer to fester in the heart of the locker room if it gives him a shot at a couple of extra wins. How is this guy any better than Butch?

Beats me, but he obviously has to field a team, and maybe he thought he could change some of them. Butchna suggested that earlier and I agree its a possibility. It makes as much sense as your opinion, which is what BTW?

I think the DL for the most part bought in, the LBs though I thought would be a strength turned out to be a weakness. My guess is a few of the LBs and DBs were not with the program. The OL definitely played like they wanted the season the end. Hopefully Pruitt chases away a few of them.

He drops 10 or 12 in the spring and the fanbase is up in arms because we didnt have any talent or depth before and all he did was make it worse.

Hes not gonna change much with this group of players as a whole. If he can recruit top 10 he ll have a chance to prove he coach and mange. If not he ll be gone.

These kids had it way too easy under Butch.

If they can’t handle having a straight shooter for a HC, this isn’t the program for them.
The Jones regime and players treated the S@C complex like a smoothie bar and lounge. It's sickening. Pruitt has to lay it out there and folks that don't want apart of it need to get on I-40 and get the heck out of town. GBO!!!!

I get the that there were some malcontents on the team, but why wait until the season is over before a couple players come out and tattle on em. No one had the nerve to step up and call those players out during the season. Wasted opportunity by those that have to carry the load next year... they could have put their foot down and made a strong point.

See on post game interviews at UTsports. Tuttle’s comment was made to Hyams.

What difference does that make against Vanderbilt? Vanderbilt doesn't have a player recruited by UT. Not even talking about losing the game but getting RUN OUT OF TOWN by inferior coaches and players???? Regarding only this game, there is no excuse that works except incompetence.

You can tell there was little work done by 1) Trey Smith comes in as a freshman and is the strongest OL on the team and 2) by looking at the thin arms, legs, etc of the team compared to OL, DL, LBers, etc of top teams.

In what fantasy world do we have a good team with great players? You must be talking about the players and coaches wearing orange and white being inferior because there was nothing inferior about the *** stomping Vandy just gave us. We just got spanked by superior coaching and players for the 3rd year in a row. That's 5 out of the last 7 Vanderbilt owns us, like just about everyone else in the SEC.

If this is proven to be true on the part of Brandon Johnson or anyone else on the team, then CJP ought to consider the nuclear option. The nuclear option being the release of those players from the program. Because as I read the NCAA rules, scholarships are renewed annually as opposed to being a guaranteed contract for a longer period of time.
Many on here will remember a few years ago when Tyler Bray held similar sentiments. That attitude is as toxic to a program as it should be terminal for any such player's tenure in the program. If they're not bought in, then they've sold out for self and need to go.
Absolutely true.

I say give outright release to any player not wanting to pay the price to get Tennessee back on top. I’d cut several regardless what they claim. Coaches know damn well who the quitters are. One thing I’d be able to say next August if I’m Jeremy Pruitt is that “these guys won’t quit on us”
