Phil Steele Countdown: #7 TENNESSEE

We'll see whose right by season's end.

I'm the only person on record saying we go 15-0 with ease.

Only the game against Alabama in the regular season will be even close.

Hope you're right, I don't see us coming out of the four game stretch undefeated.

Steele's on the train.

I have had a very good pulse on UT throughout the past deade, often calling for them to finish either much higher or much loer than most folks' expectations, and doing very well on my forecasts. ... PHIL'S FORECAST: ... This is one of the top offenses in the country. ... They have 8 starters back (on defense) including both all-SEC guys and have their best defense yet under Jones. ... While they were only 9-4 [in 2015], they were basically 4 plays away from an undefeated season and playoff berth. This year they have 17 returning starters and are poised to take that next step. ... Add it all up and UT is my favorite to win the SEC East. Four of my 9 sets of power ratings are calling for 12-0 and that makes them a national title contender.

He should listen to his computers saying we're going 12-0.

Its funny how the pure analytics love us (i.e. McIllese Sports) but it's the human element putting us at the bottom of the top 10.

This is one time people should just follow the numbers.

If UT is undefeated it won't matter one bit where they were ranked in a meaningless preseason poll.

If Tennessee goes 15-0 and wins the National Championship...AND Dobbs wins that trophy in NYC...

I'll treat D4H TO A FULL DAY with UNLIMITED TOKENS @ Chuck E Cheese!

No college football team goes 15-0 with "ease." I hope we run the table but to say it's not going to be close is ignorant. Sorry D4H

This guy is an idiot. We'll finish #1.

15-0 lock.

Since you're a known and confessed fair-weather fan, I wonder how many on here will be rooting for us to lose early in the year just so you will go away? I'm not going to root for us to lose but will certainly ease the sting knowing you will quickly drop UT football by that Sunday morning after a loss.

No. No way. Never gonna root for the Vols to lose, ever, for any reason. We could be facing Armageddon if the Vols should lose, and I'll just strap in for the rough ride, because I'm gonna be cheering the guys in Orange on.

I'm thinkin' worse case scenario would be 10-2 season, final 12-3. Jones being candidate for coach of the year.

Anything less than 10-2 should be considered major failure with Jones being on a full hot seat the next season. JMO.

Some on these boards say it will be impossible to get to Atlanta with 2 regular season losses. It won't, not necessarily.

But it will be next to impossible to get to the national playoffs with 2 losses. Even as SEC champs. There will usually be at least four Power 5 teams with 0 or 1 loss, all ranked in the Top 5, at least a few of them with conference champion titles of their own; those will get the nod before any 2-loss team. Even the SEC champ.

Nobody is wanting to lose to curb his posting. There are many on here that want us to lose early and often, you know all the fans I other teams, but not even our fair weather fan wants us to lose. An as for easing the sting, D4H is irrelevant to the sting. Based off his predictions we will all be happy if he is right. And I would expect him to rub it in on a daily basis.

See you in Tampa.

Disappointing if so. CBJ may not have a better roster again then he does this year. So much talent, depth, and experience. Unless we have a crazy number of injuries which isn't uncommon for us. <--- even if so we have plenty of backups to where the talent level won't be much of a drop across the board.

14-1 + SEC + NC rings (as I actually believe) + another year of anyone's input on this forum will be just fine by me. Go VOLS !!
