Next will be the requisite follow up article where he takes his name out of consideration because he is happy doing what he's doing.

Maybe another "Good Ole' Boy" is just what we need...just sayin...and I dont think MH was a "Good Ole Boy". And I cant think of one time since Ive been a member here that we have been "united" about much of anything...some of you were still complaining about something the day after the Fiesta Bowl Championship win. Im confident that PF will not be hired as AD, but I don't think it would be a bad thing if he was. JMO though.

I can't believe the University would even consider hiring Mr. Mediocrity to be the AD.

Just enjoy your retirement Phil.

Going away from the Good Ole Boys is what got us in the situation with the NCAA. Lets keep our AD a Tennessee guy. Dooley is close enough with having SEC ties.

the dedication to the GOB's is also what has our football team in a 12 year title drought

I'm all for Phil, being the interim AD. But only while we search for a new, more qualified person. He said he would do anything he could to help his University, so I don't see a problem with asking him warm-body the position while we search for someone new.

That would create a huge political problem.

My biggest fear is that he will find his way back to being head coach if things go wrong with Dooley. I don't see how he is qualified to run the athletic department. It's almost like we are going backwards if this happens.

Not saying I totally disagree, but how so? I understand that he could try and bolster down the position for his own, but I don't see Phil as that type of person. He's been pretty clear that he doesn't want to coach again either (Referring to the previous poster about him finding his way back on the sidelines).

Really? Remember how he became head football coach?

the same year we got embarrassed by our 2 biggest rivals 100-37?

Oh well we were still there. I guess joe paterno should get fired too and sucks at coaching right? When was the last time they won anything?

Because he would ignore everything except the football program. Which he would micro manage to the point that the current coaching staff would be paralyzed and unable to do their jobs. He would be UT's version of Al Davis.
