Peyton not going to bat for Tee????

Peyton is just jelly of Tee's natty. I dont hate Peyton like I do Currie, but he's misguided by the Haslime he has all around him. He needs to extricate himself from that bunch of criminals before his legacy is ruined. We're the Cleveland Browns of the SEC thanks to the Haslams, and Peyton Manning is so far up their asses that he can't see the Big Orange sunshine anymore.

For all against Tee. How would you compare him to Lincoln Riley? How’s he doing at OU? Riley was OC at a P5 school for 1 (close to 2) season before being named the head coach at Oklahoma.

He was an OC and AHC at East Carolina - his total time in those roles was 7 years - not 2. More experience in a role where he needed to lead other coaches.

Was Kirby Smart on “this level”? Lincoln Riley? James Franklin? Phil Fulmer? Bob Stoops? Dabo Swinney?

He coordinates one of the top P5 offenses in the country at Southern Cal and is a finalist for the top assistant coach in the country after being the #1 recruiter in the country a year or two ago. Did any of those others have those credentials?

Why exactly is he “not on this level” when he’s had great OC success at a helluva lot better P5 program than Tennessee is? Please explain.

You all just throw out names without looking at how long those coaches were assistants or OC/DC before they got their first HC job.

HC is NOT the same as an assistant. It is not even the same as an OC/DC. A HC is responsible for both sides of the ball. A HC is responsible for hiring. A HC is the face of the football program. A HC is responsible for punishment of players. A HC is responsible for the culture and setting the rules. A HC is responsible for hiring non coaching staff. A HC is the one that is bashed and has to answer to the media when the team does bad.

You have your VFL blinders on.

I want the players to get a good experienced HC that can turn this program around quickly.

But go ahead and push this agenda. Then when he does something wrong in game or hires someone you don't like or says something stupid - or a player you like leaves - don't say a word.

that happens with any head coach, so what do we have to lose?

I give up! Some of you are pawns of folks like Swain and others.

Have a nice day letting them push agendas that are not best for this university.

Absolutely NO other school is looking at Tee Martin for an opening. That should be enough to tell you that he is not ready.

As if we are not embarrassing ourselves enough there are several threads on here trying to demean a Tennessee icon and vfl. Peyton Manning isn't employed by UT athletics, let's stop it.

I'm wondering that myself. If there's any proof that Peyton is the one standing in the way someone needs to produce it. Otherwise this bs needs to stop.

Well one person said that 15 years ago another person said something to a third person that Peyton didn't like Tee and would never let him coach at UT. That's proof enough.

Excellent point. Mic drop

Peyton isn’t going to bat for Tee because it’s such a colossally stupid idea I can’t believe anyone is seriously suggesting it.

Who else is there? How many "no's" do we get before we consider it?

We were 0-8 in the SEC this year. Only one win vs a P5 team (GT). There is nowhere else to go but up.

I'm with u buddy. Peyton not going to bat for Tee probably because Peyton has enough sense to see that Tee is not ready for that kind of job or pressure. Just because he went here and won a national title does not mean he's qualified for a HC position. With that being said I believe he has proven he's a great recruiter and a decent offensive mind, so for the OC position I would be happy to have him.

But Schiano was better? Let's face it. Peyton is in Haslam's back pocket now. Plus who you think is helping Peyton with his political career?:ermm:

He didn’t win a Natty and play for any other school either, like I said before he is a VFL, it’s bout time we started treating him like it!!!

Because Peyton knows we can’t take a chance on a coach at this point. And that he’s not ready yet. Many former players are because he’s black, ie Haynesworth. Sorry, but it’s the truth. And typical of society today. Personally I think Kiffin should be the hire then Tee in as Associate Head Coach and groomed one day to take over. But that seems to be too complicated for that clown Currie

Fantasy. Tee is looking to take the next step. He's not going to come as a "coach in waiting"...especially under Kiffin. Fans need to think things thru a bit. Sometimes I think they live in this drug fueled fantasy state where reality is whatever they want it to be. We may hire Kiffin. We may hire Tee, but there's no way in hell you get them both with Tee working for/with Kiffin no matter who the AD is.

I don't understand how some of you say Tee is not ready for the HC job. He is a top recruiter, and would be all in for Tenn. The VFLs would make sure he has everything he needs to be successful.

Kirby Smart was never a HC, and Jeremy Pruitt has been interviewing for a HC position and he has never been a HC.

More importantly this would be Tee's dream job. #TeetoUT

How can Peyton not go to bat for Tee when so many other VFL players are doing so?

Guys,
After today's Gundy debacle, for the second time, truly saddens me.

I would have got the deal done with Tee and re-united the fan base unless Gundy was already a done deal.

I truly don't understand why Peyton still refuses to go to bat for Tee on the search committee.

Tee has been true champion in everything that he's done.

Clemson's HC coach was a coordinator and so was Fulmer.

Somebody else is going to give Tee a shot and we're already at the bottom of the SEC.

I'd he honored to bring Tee home as the Vols next head coach.

Does Peyton have bad blood towards Tee??? and Peyton helped bring Butch into the fold.

Dabo was not a coordinator. He was a WR coach. Clemson had serious money issues at the time and Dabo took only $750K at the time. Clemson offered it to Fulmer but he said he needed $3 mill.

Is Tee ready to coach? Probably not right off, but he's worth a shot after this hiring debacle. As for Peyton, he's probably jealous that Tee was able to win a National Championship, and beat Florida. Peyton couldn't do either! If we can't get a good hire, hire somebody from Tennessee and give them a shot. Our program is in the dumpster right now. We really don't have options and are in no position to be picky. At this point, I think we look back at Kiffin. Do some crazy contract like Louisville did with Petrino, and give him another shot. If he can keep his wang in his pants he can win.
