Peyton not going to bat for Tee????

I've read several reports that Peyton is the reason Tee Martin isn't being contacted.

If so, Peyton needs to pony up and learn to coach. I am starting to think he is more loyal to the Haslams to the Vols, it makes me very sad, but it's true.

It appears something is amiss between PM and Jim. I can't fiqure it out though.

Because either he has some bad blood because Tee won the Natty or something (which I find unlikely).

OR

It has to do with lobbying for a GM position with the Browns or getting some sort of political leverage which the Haslams can offer. This situation is the most likely because Peyton's interests in politics and the idea of him being the GM isn't new.

I seriously doubt PM has any interest in politics.

Kelly was never approached, don’t believe that report he turned us down.

Gundy and Cutt said no and neither were realistic. One is paid well at his Alma Mater. The other is happy in the low pressure job.

Anyone who thinks Manning doesn't resent Tee for what Tee accomplished here, and he failed to, is really, really naive. Tee will NEVER get a chance at HC here, as long as cry baby has input. Ya that’s it. Peyton, an 18 year NFL vet with 2 SUPERBOWL RINGS, 5 MVP awards, and multiple NFL records is upset about Tee Martins National Championship ring and WR coaching career. Please.....where do people get this $hit.

Why would Tee Martin's coaching accomplishments, such as they are, be known to Peyton Manning? For that matter, what do any of us know about Tee's coaching abilities, except for the rec from his HC? That is good to have, but what do we actually know?

well i don't know that any of these got past the "are you interested in discussing this opportunity" phase. but i'm pretty sure all of these people were reached out to....on some level. even gruden.

we've only, i think, made 2-4 offers depending on what you want to beleive. Gundy and Schiano for sure. Kelly/USA today says he turned down an offer, not sure that actually happened. and not sure if the offer that was discussed about gruden every really happened....i have my doubts.

no disagreement on when the search got started in earnest. schiano did seem to be at or near the top of the list, even before Jones was fired.

disappointing. we missed the boat on some good candidates. i think with a little more effort we could have probably wound up with Frost or Mullen. or if we made a real concerted effort like we did with gundy, maybe we could have gotten somewhere with Petersen.

doesn't matter now. we are where we are.

Very underrated post. Peyton's biggest fans are the sheep who 100% believe he is the guy you see in public. They would be shocked if they knew Mr. Mannings true character. It's out there, you just have to want to find it.

That is your contribution to this thread? Dude, we might have love for Tee, but we don't know jack about his ability to be head coach of a major program. His boss at USC speaks very highly of him, and maybe he is right. But WTF do we know? Maybe you know, so tell us about Tee Martin, and lose the character assassination suggestion routine.

People want Peyton as HC all the time but he has no coaching experience and Tee is a coach with experience but not enough to coach here. That makes no sense.

We just got turned down by a homerun hire offering big money. No reason to settle on Tee just yet. Plenty of good coaches out there. Nothing against Tee but why fire Butch and hire Tee? Makes no sense. Offering Tee is just desperate IMO

Tee has a much higher ceiling than Butch ever had.

It would be very good for Tee to learn some more offensive schemes from either Gruden or Kiffin and I also think Chaney would be a good tutor.

the guy at SMU was the OC at Clemson for 4 or 5 years with Dabo, and won 40 something games there.

Ok really think about that... Peyton isn’t a dumb guy, who in their right minds would ever want to be the CLEVELAND BROWNS GM. That’s career suicide right there.

He's tight with JB Cooter who many feel is about ready to take on HC job in NFL. That would be a huge upgrade in Cleveland for sure. Peyton was in Cleveland awhile back also.

tee has a very low floor, and virtually no ceiling since he's so early on in his career. agree.

he would accomplish the short term goal of settling things down and giving the people something to rally around as "our guy". it'd be warm and fuzzy.

but you better be ready to fend off the naysayers the first time he doesn't call a time out in the right spot, or has a too many men on the field penalty....or f's up a 2 or 4 minute possession. or makes any number of questionalbe game day or personnel calls.

you hire tee martin, you're signing up for the long haul. if you're not willing to do that, then don't sign him up, you're just setting him up for failure ohterwise.

Well I watched Butch do that for 5 years and he was "experienced". Tee would get at least that long bc his recruiting will prop him up for a while and he's our boy. The guy will bring in athletes. People talking about needing patience, well of course. We've been patient for a decade. But it's razor thin at this point. Few people would command the patience that Tee would with his history and recruiting.

That may be true...but that is not unique to any programs fan base who expect better. How do u guys think Bama fans would be acting if THEY had gone through what we have? It's a different atmosphere now then it was in the past with the internet and social media.

I GUARANTEE that Bama fans would be on the streets with pitchforks and gasoline cans demanding change. Same with Georgia..just a couple examples.. We probably will never know though...because their administrations would never let their programs fall that far. But if they did? You'd see the same level of outrage.
