Peyton is on fire!

Maybe so but it was Peytons leadership that helped get the recruiting classes we did. Those top players came to UT to play with Peyton because they saw the way the offense clicked with him and knew where Tennessee was going. Peyton had as much to do with taking Tennessee to the next level as anybody else did.

Peyton never had a defense worth a crap. One year he only had 4 INT's for the entire year. I guess it's Peytons fault that third and long Chavis was the DC that allowed 50 points a game to the turds while he was there.

Kelly and Martin couldn't sniff his jock. They were good quarterbacks, but nowhere close to the quarterback Manning was.

He was and will likely always be the best quarterback to ever play the game at UT.

"Peyton never had a defense worth a crap."

I wouldn't go that far, but in those big games against Florida, the defense may as well have been eating hot dogs on the sideline. Spurrier's offense was that far ahead of them. They shredded us, every year.

Which plays against Peyton's greatest weakness... when things are going badly, and his defense doesn't seem like it can stop the other team's offense, Peyton tries to do too much. Still does to this day.

That being said, if Manning had played perfectly, we wouldn't have beaten Florida. Between the defense being turned into garden mulch, receivers dropping passes, and Jay Graham diving over the pile and fumbling the ball (and all those similar plays), there's just no way. Florida had us by the mental short & curlies back then.
