Peterman

He barely got to play so none of us know what he could have turned out to be at the college level. Crompton looked pretty bad but Kiffen came in and turned him around in one year. Dobbs only had 2 touchdown passes in 5 games last year and played great this year. He may or may not have been a college QB but he didn't play enough to really know.

Nathan has his degree and accomplished the most important thing in his education. Wish him the best of luck wherever he goes.

Which makes him an automatic success regardless of what happened on the field. Best of luck Nathan.

Kid graduated early, by all accounts was a tireless worker and a great teammate. I was hoping he would end up a grad assistant here. Who knows at this point, nothing official. I agree with you....this kid has done everything the right way and will be a success at life....his lack of success on the playing field will have little to no impact on that.

He definitely got his opportunities. Just wasn't going to happen.
Yeah, he threw 20 passes this year, and got to play about 3 quarters. I think 3 series against Georgia, and 2 against Alabama., with only one 3 and out. The rest of the games , he was allowed to run out the clock.

For a reason.....he played in all 4 games last year when he was healthy (APSU, WKy, Oregon and Florida). He made appearances in the first 7 games this year, got his chance to start and impress vs Bama this season until Dobbs took over. Nathan has been with this staff everyday for the past 2 years. He had his chance. Best wishes to the kid if he is transferring.

Never jad any convooemce after the FL gene last year... That one is on Jones

On Jones for the team maybe. But as far as NP is concerned, when you have been recruited and redshirted and practiced 2 years, then your job is to go in and succeed in winnable football games. Kinda the way every backup QB has done to us since we watched with glee as Matt Mauck took over the reigns in the 2001 SECCG against the #2 team in the nation, down 10 points!

Still waiting on more than a VN "the players are sayin' ", but if NP leaves I wish him the very best. He worked hard and never caused a problem afaik.

Actually was hoping he stayed this season to challenge the newbs and offer an experienced backup. Who knows when a "Rick Clausen moment" is going to happen.

NP as puzzling as Crompton. Unfilled potential. Happens.

Not even close. Crompton had at least a hell of a run at one point, got drafted, and at least kills it in the CFL. Peterman won't even be a FA.

I hate kiffin, but he knows how to make his offense go to his QBs strengths, Fulmer never helped Crompton out in that regard.

He made appearances while running out the clock in most of the games. The fact is that he might have been a decent quarterback behind a decent o-line this year. However, I think that Dobbs had more poise and confidence, and definitely more ability to run for his life.
The opposing Ala. and Ga. defenses manhandled our line, took away the run, and just loaded up and bull rushed Peterman , and he had zero time to get rid of the ball. They couldn't afford that luxury against Dobbs and that opened everything up. I seem to remember reading that Peterman was hit on 8 of 11 drop back attempts within less than 2-1/2 seconds against Georgia.

I agree that given our o-line, Peterman was not the answer. It took Worley several games to adapt and play well, and at times he struggled. Peterman never had that much action to adapt to having to run for his life., and then look for a receiver. The moral of the story is when you have poor o-line play, you don't need a pocket passer with little experience.

He got the back up reps after Worley was named the starter and a RS was planned for Dobbs. He got them until Worley's season ended. It then took Dobbs all of one week of competition to pass him.

He's a good guy with very good physical talent... but it never translated to the field when he got his chances. He seemed to struggle with game pressure while Dobbs thrives in it.
