He has some good guest on each week during football season but some of the callers are equal to Jerry Springer. Don't know how he ended up in Birmingham but his wife is a doctor there and went to school at UA.

Don't even know the guy but knowing this maybe the wife removed his vols?

Finebaum = Jerry Springer of sports talk. It is the worst of humanity by all participants.

I don't know about that. I think you are being a little harsh on Jerry Springer. If you thought the callers on Vol Calls were bad, you haven't heard anything as bad as 4 hours of calls from elementary school dropout Tide fans. They make the callers on Vol Calls look like valedictorians.

Finebaum is a sellout who will say anything that gets attention and keeps people listening. Being in the heart of Bammerland, he panders to the trailer-dwelling morons that feed on anti-UT and anti-Auburn propaganda, and that is the majority of his fan base. He's not an idiot, he's just a total sellout. But that's how people with no integrity make money. It's not objective opinions, it's not sports journalism, it's just a greedy scumbag saying what stupid people want to hear. We all know that Bammers care nothing about the truth - they just want crimson smoke blown up their asses.

It's an act pure and simple. I doubt he has any real allegiance at all. He has Clay Travis on sometimes to push the Bammer fan base into a frenzy.

announced today that Finebaum is going nation wide, he got a new contract with sirus radio and fx radio. Not only will it be nationwide, they signed him for a 4 hour program, the most of any sports program on their stations. they stated that his program is the fastest growing sports radio program and is in demand all over the nation. I can see in the south, but surprised at the national level.

Let me play the devil's advocate for a minute...

A lot of people are calling Finebaum a sellout. He probably fits the definition. But, he is a highly paid sellout. If somebody were to offer me over $1 million per year just to sit on my butt and pander to a bunch of misguided souls who allot an inordinate number of brain cells to a particular football team (...readers suddenly realize they fit this description, too...) for 4 hours a day...even if it meant that I had to go against my heart, they wouldn't have to ask twice. It's not like he's trying to convert Christians to Islam. It's just entertainment for the weak minded. It just so happens that there are a lot of Alabama fans who aren't very bright. Actually, the same could be said for pretty much any college football team that puts athletics ahead of academics. Stupid Alabama fans will suckle at his teat and stupid Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee fans will curse and spit when he spews his BS. Then, he drives his $100K car to his multi-million dollar mansion...all the while, laughing at the morons who actually give a ****.

In radio, the most outspoken and most "controversial" are also the wealthiest. It's not a difficult formula to follow.

Just sayin...

True, but he does have good interviews during the football season Herbstreit, Brando, Stallings, Pat Dye, Barbara Dooley, seveal from ESPN, SEC commissioner, and he gets callers from all fan bases and not all of them are "stupid", as far as him going nationwide, don't know if he will keep the same format for the program, but why would he change it when it is the most listened to show in the southeast.

His ratings will be high---lots of trailers in the backwoods of alabama and their dwellers worship the man.

Does this mean he will be off "regular" radio? If one goes on Sirius or XF are they then off FM radio?

I used to listen fairly regularly and I don't think it's exaggerating to say that 70%+ of the content is about Alabama football.

Another 25% is about SEC football. Other sports are rarely mentioned. If a caller wants to talk about the NFL, NBA, college BB, baseball, etc. the conversation dies.

Finebaum is most knowledgeable about SEC football administration (coaching, SEC office, etc.) He's weak at college football x's and o's and completely in the dark about other sports.

Can't see why anyone out of the SEC would listen other than to laugh at the South.

Don't know, they didn't say. Just said that there was a big push for him to go on sirius because people who were traveling could not pick him up except in the south unless listening on the internet.

Agree , but he gets a lot of calls from all over the country. He is pretty right on about college football, last year when LK was running his mouth and on the news all the time, he made the statement why doesn't Tn. go ahead and get rid of this guy because if they don't I predict he will be gone before his second season. He has good interviews and some serious callers, but the majority are just to laugh at. I usually run every afternoon, and his show is a good way to pass the time when running . LK gave him a lot of material for his show, I don't think that is going to happen with DD.
