Yep, and I was going to add just that. The rules changes give the QB basically free rain to stand in and get rid of the ball. PI has gotten way lax and I believe still helps the O. PI has basically always been an O beneficial call.Remember when we went on that 7 game win streak?
Go back and look at the opposing QBs.
We had more even time of possession because their QB was inefficient. And our defense which is talented, made plays and allowed us to win tight ball games.
You can still win games if the other team also has average QB ability (IQ, accuracy, etc).
But understand the game is geared now to specifically help the offense advance.
You still need talented guys on defense, because you still want the highest chance to make critical stops. So in that sense, yes...defense still is a part of winning.
Because you missed his point entirely. But, you do you. The guy has had 2 years plus a cluster ****. I thought JG was a terrible QB. I couldn't understand why he didn't throw the Frosh to the wolves. But, HB realistically did not practice until the season started. We'd have gotten crushed just as badly with JT. BM can't stay on the field for more than 3 quarters. I understand why he did what he did, I didn't like it. I hope you never have a job where the super fires you prior to giving you at least a good try. 4th guy down the line that gets axed in 3 days won't come to work for him. Either that or he will demand 4 X market price. See, I expressed my displeasure without damning everyone from the trainers to the University Pres to hell. This place used to be fun. We've never had this pie in the sky top 10 every year football team that some want while VN has been alive. The vitriol because a coach doesn't deliver immediate Top 10 teams every year is sickening.Do you disagree with winning the East every 3-4 years being a reasonable expectation once a competitive program is established? Too much for you to expect? My expectations, which I clearly laid out, do not really go any farther than 2-3 East Championships a decade. This is not unreasonable. Whatever happens after that is gravy...but that should be the bar as we try to find our way back to being a competitive program again. Conference Championships, Playoff berths, and National Championships are not really a given to more than 2 or 3 teams nationally.
And please, somebody explain to me why, in a thread that complains about the personal attacks on coaches by people of one opinion, are personal attacks against fans (digs about spelling and drug use) by those of a differing opinion not derided equally?
You had me right up to Gary Danielson. Epic fail.I guess I would be considered to be a part of the "Fire Pruitt" or "Nega Vol" group as opposed to the "Sunshine Pumpers" or "Posi Vol" group, but essentially both sides of the Vols fanbase want the same thing: We want to WIN... So for me, Coach Pruitt and staff need to secure a record of 8-4, assuming a regular season of 12 games for 2021. That should be the minimal expectation every year, no matter who the coach is, and to me anything less and he should be let go. 8-4 is assuming 3 losses to our main rivals, Bama, Gators, Dawgs... Plus, the members of the fanbase that are for the current regime, point to 2020 being a "mulligan" year, due to Covid-19, etc.. Although, we still kept score of the 10 games played in 2020... And, I remember distinctly early in the year when UT was 2-0, and hearing Gary Danielson say something to the effect of the following: It's possible Tennessee can go 8-2 this year (2020), with a possible win over one of the Big 3 rivals.. Well, that clearly did not happen, BUT, obviously expectations were high for 2020, so there should be no more excuses for 2021, assuming a regular offseason, etc..
Sure it is. I bet CJP can comprehend at least on your level.

2 years plus a cluster and you know everything you need to know about Pruitt? Riiiigggghhhhtttt.Asking that we compete for the East/SEC every 3-4 year isn't "want it now, championships every year"; if you can't grasp that, I can't help you. And if wanting to compete every 3-4 years for the East/SEC is asking too much, then you might consider transferring your fandom to Vanderbilt.
I think the argument is once you’ve let a program slip this far then maybe you let a coach recruit a full cycle of kids before axing him just yet. It’s not a hard concept to grasp. Not saying CJP is the answer but it’s not crazy to give him a 4th year for a rebound attempt. So, getting beat every week and playing bad football is part of some grand design?
I think Pruitt is a lost cause, but I have zero confidence our AD would make a competent hire so, here we are.I think the argument is once you’ve let a program slip this far then maybe you let a coach recruit a full cycle of kids before axing him just yet.
