I listened to the game on the Vol Network tonight, and I observed several things tonight.

1. Scotty Hopson is a very talented player, but he is so inconsistent. He takes games off, and he usually picks games in which there are huge implications. When he's good, he's good. But when he's off, he's REALLY off, and on top of that, he allows it to destroy his confidence.

2. Brian Williams is a much-needed big body in the middle, but he doesn't have the ability to be aggressive.

3. Tobias Harris is a major playmaker on this team. I realize that there are many here who would argue at this point that he needs to put the team on his shoulders, but that is asking a lot of a freshman, and we're not there yet.

4. Skylar McBee and Steven Pearl have taken so much heat this season, but I feel that it is more because of their small roles rather than how they play in those roles. Coach Pearl has a certain job for them to do. They did not play well at all tonight. I agree. But to say that should not be given any playing time is laughable.

5. I know that because we have now lost three in a row, emotions and knee-jerk reactions will be flying everywhere. I have been reading some of the comments, and it never ceases to amaze me what you all will post on here out of frustration, although understandable. The important thing to know is that there is A LOT of basketball left to be played this season. This is still a good basketball team, and Bruce is a good basketball coach. Adjustments will be made, at least until the time comes to serve his suspension. Crucify me if you desire, but I will reiterate the importance of PATIENCE. Be patient. The ship will be righted, and we will get back on track.

I should also point out that I may not be a basketball guru who knows every nuance of the game, but I know that each player has a role to play, and if Coach Pearl believes that they can play in that role and play well, then they will get minutes. I trust his judgment, because frankly, he is the coach, not me.

Coming from a neutral corner....Steven Pearl has no business playing at a higher Div-1 basketball program. I was shocked he saw significant mins last season with talent sitting on the bench.

I remember the 30 years of Blahball before this three game slide,so I can wait it out!!! The win over either Nova or Pitt would have been enough to burn cars and riot in the streets during those days. Now armchair experts billowing about players and coaches after a couple losses that mean nothing. If the negs have been watching the last 5-6 years they would know Pearl plays lots of guys leading up to the SEC schedule and then narrows his rotation to the best 8-9 players. At least get into the part of the schedule that matters before bashing.

Good post. I also believe that a little separation from Coach Pearl (suspension from the floor during the first eight SEC games) will be good for the team. Tony will settle them down IMO. Coach Pearl's frame of mind with his coaching is not up to his usual standard. Don't know exactly what it is but he does have a lot on his mind now and I'm not sure if it is basketball.
Anyway, I believe we'll get better. A lot of ball to play yet.
GO VOLS!

Call it bashing if you want, but Pearl and McBee have no place getting any playing time on this team. McBee is a liability both on offense and defense. Pearl shows some defensive presence, but I'm sick of seeing others doubled while Pearl is left alone on offense because every one in the world knows he doesn't need to be guarded as he has no chance of hitting any shot other than a lay up---even those are questionable.

+Infinity

You can't have a guy on the court who provides absolutely no offensive threat no matter how good he is on D or how much energy he has.

Pearl should never see the floor now that we have Maymon.

That is just wrong. They should not ever be on the court unless foul trouble arises or we are up 30 with two minutes left.

Pearl was giving us good minutes at 4. At 3, he's hopeless.

They are not just getting time, they are getting significant time. I don't have any problem with them spelling guys for a few minutes, but having 13 and 14 minutes a game is just ridiculous.

I would definately say that we need to be patience with this team. We are only 10 games into the season. This ship is going to get righted tonight. I am not concerned. Yet!
