Totally agree. If you wanted a litmus test for where you stand, an all SEC schedule would be it. There is no hiding.I think the pandemic has shown where we really stand in the SEC. Without any cupcakes on the schedule it’s pretty obvious we are at the bottom of the conference and we’ve been there for a while. What does everyone else think?
Well said. I held a little hope after our winning streak to end last year even though it was against mostly bottom dwellers. From a fans view this season is what we always wanted. An all conference measuring stick.Sadly the results are not good.Who’s worse in the SEC? Vandy? (Lord don’t let us lose to Vandy). I’m not confident we come out with a win and a 2-8 or 3-7 record is a real possibility.I hate to say it but It’s time for change.Totally agree. Great point.
I never put much stock in the "streak" due to who it was against, but it was a positive and got us some good press. The positive press makes the fall from grace that much more painful. As fans we WANT to believe, even when our brain tells us otherwise. There is no rest with an all-SEC schedule. Everyone is capable on a given day of winning...Lord help us, even Vandy. I fully expect to get their absolute best.Well said. The parts I highlighted, if the 1st doesn’t happen then the 2nd won’t.Well said. Ok you said you don’t think Covid is a litmus test for who can coach but It showed who can ?I still don't think we are at the bottom of the SEC with our talent. I do think it was a litmus test for who can coach and who can't. Some coaches were able to take the lemons that Covid gave them and turn it into lemonade. Covid showed that Pruitt can't squeeze lemons. Covid showed our flaws at the coaching level. Our talent isn't the best in the SEC, but certainly not close to the bottom either. Put a different, talented leader at HC and I believe this Tennessee team at least looks more ready for games and isn't getting blown out by teams they should beat.
If it was purely based on talent, the only teams Tennessee would be losing to every year are Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. We also could lose to a strong rotating West opponent (e.g., LSU, Auburn, A&M) or a strong P5 OOC opponent depending on the year. We are always more talented than whoever the 3 creampuffs are on the schedule, Mizzou, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Vandy.I still don't think we are at the bottom of the SEC with our talent.
