Palardy (and Darr)...

I have never paid much attention in the past to our kickers becuase they have always been good kickers but I have noticed both Palardy & Brotus are L footed kickers.

It seems in the past we didn't have these issues with R footed kickers. So, I am curious, can someone tell me how long has it been since we previously had a steady successful L footed kicker? I'll hang up and listen to your answers.

baylor kid was killin it. dont know where he ended up. I have a buddy whose not even in college that can kick 45 yarders. I dont understand why this is such an issue. Go out and get a f ing kicker.

1. Our kickers have no coach, so no one to spot their errors in technique and help them correct it.

2. Your buddy should try out as a walk on maybe. BUT - he has yet to be on an SEC field. He has yet to hear the heavy footfalls of behemoths as they line up against him. He has yet to see their Cretan Bull eyes glaring at him. He has yet to hear their heavy breathing and grunts as they charge him. He has yet to see incoming of blazing fast corner rushers heading his way.

Still, encourage your friend to walk on. We're desperate. From what I've read and been told, our guys do OK in practice but in game situations wilt like flowers under a blow torch.

Kickers, pole vaulters, pitchers....there are many with the necessary physical skills who just can't seem to get their head together when it counts. You really can't coach what is going on inside a kid's head. Maybe try using a shrink. That worked for some, going way back to John Smolz's early days.

It's a mental block in their heads.

Coaches can't teach confidence, lack of fear of failure or to ignore the fear of the D guys coming at them to knock their head off.

We also have new holders and long snappers with different guys working on that to try and find the best of both and to then build the timing and precision that all FG/PAT teams must develope.

VFL...GBO!!!

Based on the angle and timing of the pics (and the amount of dirt flying up in each), about the only thing you can tell for sure is that Brodus got more turf than Palardy (which could possibly indicate that Palardy caught it too thin). Much like a golf shot, the trajectory would be lower when this happens.

Fairview wasn't it? Williamson County.

Nah, the really good guy was Chris Harris from Columbia. In 2011, he was 56 of 56 on field goals and extra points. Dead straight right down the middle. H ended up turning down some partial offers and stuff from some mid/lower level schools (Memphis for one) to accept a full four year free ride from Watson Brown in Cookeville. He has three other Columbia playing there and he wants to be an engineer. Plus he is the starter from day 1. So he decided to play small college ball.

Dooley thought that George Bullock was better. We shall see...

The kid from Baylor ended up at UT-Chattanooga.

Yep, one 37 yard punt. But it has been mentioned here multiple times that he did not look good throughout spring practice and if Palardy could focus on punting full time he would easily beat him out

Thanks. I've watched the replay twice and didn't notice him out there. How can we get the top 2 kickers that year and they both turn out to be this bad? :banghead2: I know CDD said Palardy had a good spring , but he doesn't need to be doing anything but punting..... maybe. I know he hit that 52 yard fg against Bama , but if it's close or an extra point , he just can't do it. One of his extra point trys got tipped Saturday. Picked right up where Lincoln left off.

I still don't necessarily believe that palardy had a good spring. I know dooley is usually honest with the media, but kickers are different. I don't think you say anything negative about a kicker and mess up his psyche without having a clear replacement

He's just bad. I just got up and left the room last year when he would kick (if I wasn't at the game). I was totally shocked when he hit the one against Bama though. Maybe you let Broadus kick the easier stuff and maybe let Mike try the longer trys. I'm starting to think it's a mental thing. The routine stuff for most kickers doesn't seem to be routine for him. He makes the stuff you don't expect , good at onside kicks and fakes. I don't know , maybe Bullock can replace him. I know they wanted him for kick-offs though.
