Out coached.

Inlight of the overall performance of UT in the Florida game, and comparing it to last night, I am trying to figure out whether: a) the Vols simply matchd up better vs. Florida than most teams; b) the Vols spent all summer getting ready for UF; or, c) the Vols put every ounce of emotional and physical energy they had into the UF game and now have nothing left for anyone else.

I guess an all of the above option would be the most likley.

Since playing Florida we have lost 3/5 of our offensive line and 5 defensive starters. Two of our offensive lineman are walk-ons.

You forgot option D. Florida isn't that much better than everyone else.

One of my keys to winning the game was to bench Moore... I'm feeling pretty good about that one right now.

I think he had one big play last night, but I could be remembering wrong. You could probably have argued Hancock and Jones needed to be benched, also. But they came up big near the end. I think the situation with them is similar to what we have with Crompton. There's not really anything much better behind them.

Had not realized that. That of course is huge and probably the real explanation.

Other than the UT game, I really don't see any evidence to support that. But if it makes you feel better, ok.

I will say this, we will know a lot more about where UF is after next Saturday night.

Sorry if it's already been addressed, but UT threw 43 passes versus 29 rushing attempts in the Auburn game.
Why in the world is Kiffin playing to our weakness (pass game/QB play)? I know we were forced to pass more in the fourth quarter to make up the late deficit, but Kiffin should not have called pass plays so often early in the game. Our run game averaged 5.2 yards per carry! Did Kiffin not learn from the UCLA, Florida and Ohio games?

The play by play for our first drive says it all (not a run after the Nukeese's wildcat play):

1st-10, Tenn35 14:53 N. Richardson rushed up the middle for 41 yard gain
1st-10, Aub24 14:30 J. Crompton passed to Q. Hancock to the right for 2 yard gain
2nd-8, Aub22 13:45 J. Crompton incomplete pass down the middle
3rd-8, Aub22 13:40 J. Crompton incomplete pass to the left
4th-8, Aub22 13:35 D. Lincoln missed a 39-yard field goal

Had not realized that. That of course is huge and probably the real explanation.

I'm not saying you aren't the best team in the SEC (I'm not sold yet). The fact is that there are a lot of teams that can beat you on any given Saturday. I don't think we played much worse against Auburn than we did against Florida. It's pretty clear to me that Florida's Offense is nowhere near as explosive as it was last year. It should be pointed out that you started out slow last year too though.

I am not giving up on the coaching staff. What I am saying is that this is not all on the players.

I can see why you may feel that the coach has given up on you. Or maybe he is like JC he is doing the best he can and it aint nearly enough. Mouth come second Kiff.

the game plan CLK put together would have worked if we had a team that could execute. because our WRs could not hold routine passes nor could Cromp complete routine passes at critical times, we were forced to run much more than needed. Auburn has a good team and outplayed us. I still think we had a chance if the QB and WRs make half the plays.

We would've won with a QB and WRs. Most of those missed tackles late in the game were caused by fatigue. We would have put together long grueling drives with a good mix of running and passing and scored probably 35 points on Auburn. If you look those simple routes and routine 5 yard catches were open and were either dropped or off target.

1. UCLA
2. AUBURN
3.?

Who's next? I will admit, I have one leg off the train. I'm not impressed. I've never in my life seen a coach so stubborn and full of himself. I just don't get it.

I will say this, he is losing the fan base fast. REAL FAST

gtfo.

Our Offense did not allow the D to rest. That 4th and inches roll out pass was a great call. Very gutsy. CLK has shown he is not be predictable, the players just have to do their part when they step on the field.

I'm still fully on the Lane train. I think he put together a great staff that will bring in elite talent. No matter how good or bad the sideline/gameday coaching is, talent can still overcome bad coaching and lack of talent can overcome good coaching. Has Lane made all of the right play calls/decisions this year? Nope. But, this team was never going to win 9-10 games anyway. Of course it's disappointing to lose, especially after the excitement level that Lane brought in. I'm trying to temper my expectations and give CLK and staff at least 3 years to fully evaluate them.

Exactly. Crompton missed little 4 yd crossing routes the entire first half. I mean; I think just about any of us could throw a damn 4 yd crossing route. That's why it is that much more baffling that Crompton made some really nice throws in the second half.

There's a point where a coach cant do anything and the players just have to perform. So before everyone starts whining about kiffin's play calling, at least remember what he is working with.

 I agree. These "fans"calling Kiffin out are simple morons. He is coaching freshmen, walkons, and Fulmers recruits. It's FIVE games. If you are leaning, then lean on away. If you can remember Florida, Florida State, Alabama, USC, Penn State, Miami, and LSU (to name a few)were all down at one time. The Vols don't need idiots like you. I'll see all of you people in a couple of years, when you jump back on the bandwagon.
