Don't get me wrong here, I love Hurd, but I think Kamara is way underutilized in our run game. Just because he's smaller than Hurd doesn't mean he's a scat-back, and just because Hurd is fast for a big guy doesn't mean he's a speed back.

Hurd - Attempts: 234 Yards: 1038 Average: 4.4 Long: 35 TD: 10
Kamara - Attempts: 80 Yards: 546 Average: 6.8 Long: 63 TD: 6

How is it not clear it needs to be more of a 50/50 timeshare? It's unbelievable to me that Kamara only has 80 attempts! Yes, a lot of the time Kamara isn't getting the rushing attempts because he's catching the ball, but rushing wise, 234 to 80 seems a tad bit lopsided to me, especially considering how much the stats favor Kamara.

B/c it's about staying ahead of the chains in this offense since the threat of pass is low. Hurd gets the 2 or 3 tough yards even when hit behind the LOS. For Kamara, those are no-gains or losses. A lot of his yards also have come against the worst opponents. My problem is when he does enter the game against better opponents, they run him right up the middle into the strength of the D when his strengths play to the outside. For that, I have no answer. He should still get more touches though whether that's on the speed sweep or plays directed outside like the option we saw last week.

Not only that, but we should throw the ball to Dobbs more often - he's averaging 58 yards per catch....

Hurd between the tackles and Kamara on the edges. That's how they're built.

This
you have to pick and choose on SEC teams to get to the edge. More opportunity to run up middle and off tackle on 1st down and on any downs under 4 yards to go. You can get way behind the sticks trying to get to the edge on certain teams. It killed us Okie game when Pearson lost 6 yards on 1st down (2nd & 16 for a marginal passing team is unacceptable) killed that drive. Plus more the 2nd half. What worked versus Bowling Green did not work.

Hurd is used to wear down defenses over the course of a game. Kamara is used to bust a big gain with his speed. Not that complicated really. Their yards per carry tell the story.

Hurd gets more 3 yard carries out of nothing than any back I've ever seen.

Against the better teams we've played, I've seen more from Hurd. Kamara has played great this year, but a vast majority of those yards came from Bowling Green, Kentucky, and North Texas games.

I would like to see more 3rd and short/goal line runs with hurd, and use kamara more on passing downs and 1st and 2nd downs. hurd is a hard runner and always falls forward, that would help us out a lot on 3rd and short. i never understand why they choose to run kamara on 3rd and short.

Anybody know the fumble stats for the two? I couldn't find them. Might be a factor.

Hurd is the better Running Back but Kamara is a key to our offense when he is on field because they have to Key a linebacker on him to prevent him receiving a pass for 20-30 yards. He is dangerous in open space and defenses have to account for him. I love em both but seeing Hurd carry the ball 22-25 times and Kamara carry it 10 times with 3 receptions is the way i like to see it

Most of AK's yardage has come against weak competition. Against better teams he can't break the tackles Hurd can. Our run scheme has been mostly dive plays with no blocking and Hurd dragging people. AK needs some daylight. With improvement on the line next year, it should look more balanced
