OU and Texas on their way to the SEC?

That chart shows why Texas will own the talent in the SEC through the NIL. Their boosters can out bid Alabama for any player in the country.
I don’t think that the current version of the NIL
will last that much longer. I think once this all of this shakes out and the new super conferences are formed then we might see some changes in how this all works.

I would think, just due to the law of averages, there will be some players making more in college than they will in the pros. It will be interesting to see those reactions.

Oh, you must be right. Yeah, they totally can’t compete. (sarcasm). Just don’t let the facts get in your way.

I'll save you the trouble of googling the endowment at each university - $32 billion at Texas and $10 billion at Texas A&M. Football money is cute, but that's the real prize - and the partnerships developed as part of being in the same league shouldn't be dismissed.

I say bring 'em on, create 4 divisions: North, South, East, West. In the north, we have Kentucky, Tennessee, Vandy, and Mizzou. I'd take that **** all day long.

Yeah will be interesting to see how it all shakes out when schools start paying players

I think the impact on us would be fairly limited. I doubt we'd play them every year. We never really have recruited against Texas and Oklahoma either.
I agree. The pros (money) outweigh the cons. Especially w the prospect of an expanded playoff.

I mean in terms of football. Va Tech fans think they invented the damn game just because they had a good run under Beamer. I’ll fully admit that UVA grads have as an elitist attitude as anyone.

Boy does that sum it up.

Two other thoughts:
Tech fans HATE Tennessee for some reason- I've never had a Tech fan (that I didn't actually know personally) not try to talk extreme crap the moment they found out I am a Vol.

During the crap talking they call Tennessee fans rednecks, but I've never seen more Realtree crap in a stadium than the times I've been to Lane.

Also, the Enter Sandman entrance is ass.

I agree. The pros (money) outweigh the cons in this case. The more teams added out west the fewer opportunities there are to play them. We already play Bama every year from the west, so them moving to the East just makes it more difficult for Florida and Georgia. In that scenario this actually helps us, and even moreso with the prospect of an expanded playoff, which is definitely going to happen now that the new round of realignment will mean mega-conferences with fewer out of conference games.

Hell yeah. Bring them on!

Will be interesting to see the reaction from the Texas fanbase when they experience the conference love for Bama first hand.
It will rock their world, however watch for them to try and bring people from the Big 12 (officials, admin people, etc.) with Texas connections into the SEC.

They are Texas - even though it is not, they will view and try and treat this like a merger of equals. In their deluded heads, they are just as big of a deal as the entirety of the SEC.

Lots of local yocal reporters around Austin and Norman think it’s all but a done deal.

Pete Thamel (not a yocal local by any stretch) also thinks it’s a done deal

It's a done deal by all appearances and intuition. They have been talking privately through lawyers for a while, it seems. The leak of it may have been the last ditch effort by some to derail it.

The leaks were just face saving measures by A&M.

Well our road will just be tougher in this league with Texas and Oklahoma joining

Not really. Tennessee is the only school in the East currently playing Alabama every year anyway. Now all the others get a taste of what Tennessee has to deal with. Plus, it will challenge Alabama more getting Fla and Ga every year in addition to auburn. Trading LSU and A&M for Fla and Ga makes Bama drive tougher also.

Even though it has never happened, Tennessee having to play alabama twice to win the SEC is a tough assignment for anyone.

For sure. There will be guys that will never make the pros that could earn a few hundred thousand over a career. Handled correctly, an incredible start to a young life.

Jauann Jennings type comes to mind.

Texas arrogance is beyond Alabama arrogance less a lot of championships.
