I know OU is 1-1 and possibly 1-2 end of coming weekend but I am impressed how Stoops has handled his QB attrition situation this season so far.
Trevor Knight left OU so the back up to Baker Mayfield is Austin Kendall (yes, the one time UT commit). In their last game against ULM, Stoops let Kendall play in garbage time in 4th quarter but did actually let him throw. He ran plays with Kendall the same way as if he was starter so he could give Kendall meaningful snaps and not just handoffs.
We do not seem to do that much. Even last season, we used Dormady for handoffs mostly (I think he threw in a game).
Ohio could be a good game for that. If we build a sizeable lead, why not let Dormady come in and play not 'reps' but 'meaningful reps'. Let him throw, scramble, run etc. Give him the taste of full playbook. See how he does. Heck I would even put Sheriron for a series or two and see how he does in live game situations. (Assuming JG is in for RS)
What ya'll think ?
