Lately I've gone on spending spree on books kinda like you have on guns. Last week I got a Chronological Study Bible in the NIV. I know, but now I have every Bible that other people I talk to have. It has been enjoyable and helpful with this lesson.

That's great, and I agree with how Slice was putting it earlier. That basically he didn't care if you agree with him, just seek for yourself. I'm not a big reader, except my bible, but I do enjoy studying things concerning the bible. I don't post much about it because I don't want to argue people, and me say something that comes across as ugly, though I wouldn't mean it that way. That's why I've stayed out of the bible thread, I can talk to someone in person and them understand I'm not being smart, but it may come across different on a message board, and I don't wanna seem "unchristian" in a bible thread. Of course that only applies about the bible and not other threads😂. I do enjoy it though, and occasionally post about spending time studying in the MBRO thread, Actually spent a couple of hours today. I've mentioned in there, but I go do a Bible study at a men's recovery home every other Tuesday, and love it. I enjoy reading you guys talk in here. I've found for myself, the more I get in his word, the more I want. Glad to read you getting closer, sincerely mean that.

I agree about posting in the Bible thread and I didn't for a long time for the same reasons.

I've always loved books. I have a nice collection of "Cook Books".

I won’t post my opinion of the apocalyptic books in the NT Apocrypha, but if you’re reading them, I think it’s important to read the revelation of Thomas as well. I’d recommend reading Acts of Thomas first, but for me that happened naturally, it might not be as important as I deem it. I think Acts of Thomas is a great piece of early Christian history. I’m a sucker for the Pauline Epistles and found most Apocryphal Epistles to be interesting (albeit sometimes weird) reads.

Paul, his story, epistles are very intriguing to me.

Agreed. As a Christian I know I have opinions that don’t fit the standard or norms if you will. And I’m ok with that. Big picture is what counts imo

Did you know I think that Hebrews should be with the others that are not in the Bible?
Lol. I too have opinions outside the norm.
I believe everyone should study all available materials for themselves and not just accept what we’ve all been told to believe.
We all get judged by ourselves so it really should be our own opinions that bring that judgment.

But I digress.

I plan on reading Thomas. I've got 38 Books in the NT and besides the 2 I've read, there are about 7 more I'll read.

Quite a few from the OT I really look forward to.

I question the addition of the accepted Revelations but not any of the others. Almost pretending they don’t exist.

Fair point but I was speaking more to the care taken by the scribes to prevent errors or corruption. With the discovery of the Dead Sea scrolls we learned that they did an outstanding job.

I hate it when I don't understand something and seem to be the only one that doesn't. Derp. I'm blaming 45 years of alcohol abuse and old age.

The last sentence "almost pretending they don't exist" is where I'm confused.

The apocalypse of Paul and Enoch were The reasons I went down this road.

I wasn't sure I was going to follow through with doing this so I ordered the less expensive used NT version first. I thought if I didn't like it no big deal. It was $19 and change with shipping. 1/2 through Paul I took a break, took 4 btw, and ordered the OT. It's new and 3 times more.

Tl;Dr version. I look forward to it.

Btw Slice, these quarterly books we use for SS lessons are really good ones but one thing I don't like is like this week, it skips verses I guess they think isn't important to their thoughts.

Verse 24 isn't part of the lesson, but it's got a good point in it and it's a good verse to discuss the difference between the KJV and the others.
