Orangeslice13, a blessing to those around him…..Again

Just out of curiosity, what grandiose thing did I say about you @Behr ?
No, I didn't say that right. I meant I didn't want to be seen as grandiose. Or to be called whatever it was that Bill said about me that one time.

I don't remember what it was but it's not as big deal it is just something I try not to be, but I can see others thinking it. I try, but I also don't care as much anymore.

**I tried to remember the word you used a couple of times so I could use it, but I can't remember and didn't try to search because it wasn't that important.

If I said something, it was prolly mostly in jest. I do respect you, your opinions and the ideals you do post on here. Your religious beliefs, the attempts at becoming a better all around person, you don’t delve too far into it, but seems like you’ve cleaned up your life a lot, and how you genuinely care about most everyone here and their well being. I say anymore and we’ll need to get a room, but don’t sell yourself short Behr. I mean that. To quote you, “BLEEDAT”

I’m going to try and find a time to check it out soon.
It's open Thursday-Saturday from 8-3 I think. Right now there's a limit on how many people can be in the store and a 30 minute time limit if there's people waiting behind you. Since you're wanting WWII that would zero you in on Springfields and Winchesters. All Winchesters are WWII and any Springfield under 4,000,000 would also be WWII. Winchesters carry a premium price as there are fewer of them and people like the brand. The armorers would be happy to help you as well as other folks in the store. I would recommend getting on the CMP forums and asking questions about what to look for before going in.

Preshiateit Bill.

I just felt bad that someone thought that of me. No big deal at all. It was in the food thread and that's the only place I'm concerned about that kind of thing anyway.

Like I said, I don't remember the word you used but I do remember that my perception of it was, I was often condescending ....and that's exactly what I don't want to be. One of those things, Im glad you said it, but hate you had to.

Anyway, a culinary/Bible question. Do you consider a shoulder, leg and thigh of a ram all to be the same thing?

Not about to speak for God biblically. In OT if God was specific on the animal sacrifice, I’d be exact. Culinary wise I’ve had lamb, don’t know that I’ve had ram. In all other animals I’ve eaten, I’d consider them different. Maybe biblically you didn’t mean for sacrificial purposes though?

I know what I think/believe, I was just curious what you or someone else thought.
Yea, it was for a Concentration of Priests for Saul.

KJV says shoulder
NASB and ESV says leg
NIV says thigh

Exodus 29:22 under Concentration of Priests....

KJV says shoulder
NASB, ESV and NIV all say thigh.

Brenton Septuagint translation says shoulder both places.

That's interesting. While in school I sort of wanted to take Greek just to understand some original translations, but that would've been a lot of work for something my career has no attachment to.

There's been a commercial, or set of them since around the time the pandemic started about Greek words for love. I don't know much Greek, but i know the way they describe the words for love in Greek is wrong. And it bothers me way more than it should.

This was a good example of why I like using other versions along with my KJV to study. I learned more.

I felt confident it was shoulder as it made sense that it signified Saul being anointed for King and having the "world" on his shoulders, just as the breast was to signify his people being dear to him and having them close to his bosom.

Just got my book. It's sweet!

Im not good with Greek or Hebrew at all, but I did buy a really nice study Bible several months ago that I use daily. This is it except mine is black leather...

I realize how hard it is to talk about alot of serious things like this and end up deleting alot of stuff on a regular basis because of that. Not just here.

I know what you mean, but I think as a friend your beliefs matter enough for me to talk to you about them, it's just up to me to show enough respect and control to not say anything disrespectful about something I don't agree with.

I'm the same way about being hypocritical, just another reason I stayed out of these type of conversations for so long. I didn't realize how bad I was (language and stuff in the zone) until a few months ago. Good grief.

Im also always concerned about seeming grandiose or whatever that was that @volfanbill said about me. I always...even from back in the day, tried not to seem like an arrogant know it all, because I'm not and don't want to be thought of as that even on a message board. Words and humor in black and white is just like you said above.

Sorry about rambling. When you try to say something without being misunderstood, it takes more words. Lulz.
You are a know it all 😁

I bought something called the biblical encyclopedia years ago. It was KJV, but took each verse and translated it back to greek and Hebrew, the gave the definition for certain words in those languages. It was like a set of books, maybe 30 or so. I loaned them out to a friend who is a pastor, just haven't asked for them back. It was cool though.

@volfanbill and/or @Orangeslice13

Either of you read The Letters of Pilate? I thought I remembered one or both saying you did. I just got started and to the first mention of John the Baptist. It's important to me that parts Ive read that mention scripture have been accurate, so far.

Not really sure what I think about that. I'm kinda wondering if you both did read it but waiting to see what I said.

Quite a bit made sense, but some didn't. I'm gonna hafta get in the Bible and refresh my memory, which is a good thing.

Nice Bible, I saw one when I was looking several months ago.

1. I'm really confused and disappointed. The preface page says "These Letters" and goes on to tell about what they're about. But one of the major things it says, isn't mentioned. I'm at a loss.

2. What it does tell is ....I'm trying to think. There are maybe 3-4 significant events described here through Pilates eyes that confirms scripture.

3. I see Pilate differently now and I wasn't sure how I felt about that, at first. Now I am. It's interesting because you, Slice, Joe etc. Could have all had the same impression of him and been different from mine. Or we all have different impressions/opinion/understanding of who he was. I had it wrong.

I've never heard or read that this should be included in the Bible, but in my opinion it should not. So far I've gotten something out of everything I've read, but I also haven't read anything that I believe should have been included in the Bible that I love.

I have not read anything beyond a few passages from it. Not enough to have a valid opinion

edit: meant to quote @Behr
Not trying to sway you either way, but the only good thing that I really got from it was it put me back in my Bible.

What I actually got from it. Pilate was more corrupt and despicable than I was aware of.

More information is always a good thing.

I used it on my first read through (took an OT Bible class and NT Bible class in college that required the hand book) but not the second time I read through. The NOAB also has a study guide as you read through it

I found a new Bible I'm going to order next week when they send me a coupon for free shipping. Lulz.

I read The First and Second Book of Adam and Eve this week. Couldn't put it down. Again, Im so glad I'm able to read these things with the mindset I have. I was telling my pastor about it, which he was against in the first place, but he's very interested in our conversations about it and seeing what I'm getting from it. It's definitely an experience. I'm not sure if I believe any thing in it is true, but it doesn't matter, what I do believe is true probably is. Lol, if that makes since.

What I mean is, one thing I got from it is Adam and Eve loved the Lord more than anything, prayed all the time and and he loved them. If what was told that gave me that impression is just a made up fairy tale, it doesn't matter. But it's probably the Truth.

A question I've wondered forever has been answered. I know it's probably not true, but the Bible doesn't teach against it, it makes sense and it doesn't matter either way. I'm good with that and God is good with me thinking it.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that.
