We agree on what it should say in Hebrews.I think on the "weak and uselessness" its because the Pharisees treated some of the laws as more and less significant than others, which made it "weak and useless" as a whole in God's eye. I think That's where the "not change one letter or stroke" comes from.
Also, Im quoting this because if I put it in bold you'll miss some if you don't "expand" and I want it to be in full.
Arrgg, I'm getting interrupted every 5 minutes and its annoying. Yea, I'm enjoying it too, I'm seeing some things differently. I'll be glad to agree with you if you said the biggest error with Hebrews is it too complicated. Lol.
I don't see it as "twisting to fit". I see it as it being inspired and and written i as such and therefore requires understanding on a higher level. And I'll go ahead and say it, Jesus is smarter than I am.
I didn't say Jesus altered the law. I said the contrary.
I believe if it’s inspired it should stand alone and still be accurate. If someone only had Hebrews to read then they would not get an accurate representation of truth.
That’s just not the case for the rest of the New Testament letters. Hebrews is different
Lol
I did remember one.
7: 26-27
For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens;27 who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself
The sin offering was not a daily sacrifice. There is a daily worship sacrifice but that’s not a sin offering.
Daniel 8:12 (NASB) (KJV says daily instead if tegular)
12 And on account of transgression the host will be given over to the horn along with the regular sacrifice; and it willfling truth to the ground and perform its will and prosper.
Numbers 28:22-25 (NASB 24 in particular)
22 and one male goat for a sin offering to make atonement for you. 23 You shall present these besides the burnt offering of the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering. 24 After this manner you shall present daily, for seven days, the food of the offering by fire, of a soothing aroma to the Lord; it shall be presented with its drink offering in addition to thecontinual burnt offering. 25 On the seventh day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work.
I think it (NT) gets harder as you get into, like math. For one. You don't have any questions on Revelation?
I also think it makes more sense reading it as a whole book and not just picking verses. I know that seems condescending but I don't mean it that way. But I know, kinda like Jesus with the law, it can have more than one meaning without canceling out the other meaning and it may take several times before you see it.
And, most importantly, I believe that not just with reading the Bible, but in everything, God gives us just what he wants to give us in his timing. If you had understood Hebrews with no question, I wouldn't be studying it the way I am right now. I absolutely believe that. And I told you I was on a journey. I am and God has put in motion a couple of years ago. I just don't talk about it. But what we're doing is good, and its not just for your benefit or just mine.
would be a great post with just the rex commentI should have known better to not write everything down, but looking for this I used my KJV just because its a reference Bible and I've been to more than one place in Daniel, 2 Corinthians, 1 Timothy, Leviticus, Exodus, Psalms and Numbers...to get there and make sure I was right.
I also don't want my posts to look like Rex's.
I'll read Romans 7 & 8, You read Leviticus & Numbers. Lol.
I've exhausted my resources on Matthew 5:18. Unless something or someone shows me differently I'm sticking with it being like Hebrews 2:2 about the Angels. Its simple and your making a bigger deal if it than what it is.
I'm telling you, until the End zone is deleted from VN, if you say the gators are gonna beat us one more time, until they actually do, I'm gone smack you.
I think that's what its saying. If you want to agree to disagree I'm cool with that.
Maybe you should try looking into the works of rabbis who know the law as opposed to those who would rather not address itI should have known better to not write everything down, but looking for this I used my KJV just because its a reference Bible and I've been to more than one place in Daniel, 2 Corinthians, 1 Timothy, Leviticus, Exodus, Psalms and Numbers...to get there and make sure I was right. ***Edit... All the commentary said the same thing "daily sin sacrifices" but didn't say exactly where it said it in the Bible, so I had to look. It seems if the commentary I use doesn't go into detail, they don't think they need to.
They all went into overwhelming detail about the Jewish laws. I mean, it was way too much. Anyway, blah blah blah.
I also don't want my posts to look like Rex's.
I'll read Romans 7 & 8, You read Leviticus & Numbers. Lol.
***I just edited.
Messiah clarifies in the next verse
19 Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches [i]others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever [j]keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
That’s clearly written unlike the mental gymnastics required to make Hebrews fit the truth.
