so the jews only keep sheep for slaughter of Passover? I learn something new everyday. and neither is the solisctice, as you pointed out with Ishtar spring is about birth, not december. and then the Passover was all about the jews being saved/spared right? and Easter is about Jesus dying to save all of us right? you can argue dates and names all you want, I will argue actual ties back to faith. the stronger you tie Christianity to paganism the stronger you are tying Judaism to paganism as well. but you ignore it because its inconvenient.

and again you are making distinctions for Jews but not for Christians. I apply the same logic back and you get in a huff.

the church could decide we were celebrating christmas and easter in august back to back and it wouldn't change anything.

also care to comment on the church adopting the 40 day periods around the major holidays also matching some frugal friends of ours?

and you point about the alignment isn't necessary, not denying the timing or the name, faith separates it and thats enough for me. I am just asking how you rationalize the same thing for your Jewish holidays. again go back and research the pagan faiths and holidays of the era. Especially all the blood sacrifice you jews love. particularly your new year and penance attached to that and how the creation of the celebration saved the Jews from their neighbors. I can only lead a horse to water. can't make you drink.

and while the pagan references are easier and more recent its a convenient argument to cover the references back to Judaism, nothing more.

I read the first paragraph and stopped.
You're not well read enough to have this conversation.

For example
1) No grass pastures near Bethlehem.
Why would there be sheep in the fields?
2) You wiffed on the pagan spring/winter thing and I don't feel like explaining it.

I would quote "don't cast pearls...." but you wouldn't know what I was talking about.

3)Passover isn't about Isn't about sin/salvation. I'm not explaining that either. Go read.

That was enough stupidity for one post so I stopped reading.

Someone page Roust to help louder out

I get the pearls thing! I want a cookie now.

Again, I'm just asking a question that I'm not sure of the answer. Just trying to keep up here.

Does someone that practices Judaism believe that Jesus is the Son of God?

Messianic Judaism is the belief that Yeshua Messiah is the fulfillment of all scripture. (You call him Jesus).

We believe he fulfills the sin and guilt offerings of Leviticus 4-6
This is consistent with the words of Michia who said the day was coming when the temple would be no more and prayer would be our offering.

We believe salvation has always been by faith. Yeshua Messiah fulfills/ or fully preaches Torah and observing the law is an act of love (psalms 119) and that legalistic observation of the law was rejected by G-d both before and after Messiah. G-d is pleased with your desire to "be Good" more so than the action.
We believe that Messiah is the unique Son of G-d. G-ds name is in him and he speaks with the authority of G-d but he's not G-d.
Finally we believe G-d to be the same yesterday today and forever. Saying that Yeshua "did away with the law" is to call the very nature of G-d a liar.

Questions?

Didn't Jesus say he came not to get rid of the law, but to fulfill it?

its my understanding that Jews in general do not believe Jesus was the Messiah (Son of God come down to save the world). they had/have a much more selfish view of who the Messiah should have been (which is why they will continue to wait). most do admit Jesus was at least a prophet/holy/special person (at least of the ones I know).

Slice *associates with* a group of Jews that believe Jesus was the Messiah. But they adhere to the set of traditions and rules that forced God to send his Son down here to correct things. (feel free to correct me here Slice on what you guys actually believe, its tough to remember what you pick and choose and believe in)
.

Traditions?
You mean the word of G-d?

Lol, I'm ignorant in regards to the subject in which you and loud are discussing, not on unleavened bread. :)

Those sound awesome. This week is unleavened bread which means no yeast. Unleavened cookies are terrible.

By the way, the cookies are allsome. I was making some cookies and had some pistachios so I added them. Then I thought Rosemary might be good with them, why not.

Later I found out it was a recipe. The girl that takes credit for them posted her recipe before I made mine. So obviously she didn't steal it from me. Haha. But, I didn't see her recipe until after I had made mine. So......I still consider them one of my best creations, because in my mind, they are.

The recipes are eerily similar, but still different.

I miss my wife and little girl so much but am comforted to know they are with our Lord and Savior.

If I offended you, Slice, it was unintentional.

I must have missed it.
Naw dude, I'm not easily offended. I sometimes pisss people off because I forget others are not like me.

Could you point it out so I can pretend to be offended for entertainment value?

I'm offended you were at beach (wasn't it around Christmas?) and I wasn't. Just haven't gotten over it yet,

We always shut down a week at Christmas, I'd love to go then. My parents are still here though, so we go spend the week with them.
