And undercounter microwaves are great. As you get older, lifting hot dishes from an over-the-stove MW can get dangerous.

My missus demands that the microwave be ~counter-top height, so, we have a counter-top microwave. A floating island in our kitchen makes up for the lost counter space. Now, if she had accepted my ideas for the kitchen, we would have moved the refrigerator to the other end of the cabinets, salvaged pieces from the odd little "broom closet" in that space, used these to blend in the cabinetry for microwave & oven, and remodeled the space with smallish wall oven & cabinets into a pantry/broom closet.

But, noooooooooooooooo....
