Go ahead, call me optimistic, but here are my keys to the next two ball games, of course not looking much further than that. The media can say all they want, they can bash us, such as I get a text message from a buddy when I'm waiting on Vol Walk yesterday, telling me Herbstreit says we cannot compete in the SEC this year, and then last night on College Gameday Final after I make it back home from Knoxville, Herbstreit is retracting his remarks and apologizing, about how Tennessee looked very excellent and a high place finish is not unlikely in the SEC, whatever, screw the media.
Now, UCLA, I caught a little bit last night after we made the trip back home, against an inferior San Diego State team, but hey, they are better than WKU, I mean 20 times better than WKU, but UCLA shoulda realistically hung about 45-50 points on them but they couldn't. The Bruins were plauged by a couple of injuries, especially their number one cornerback going down, I believe Hester is his name, most likely out for the season. Based on our performance yesterday, to feel anywhere close to good going into the Florida matchup, I say if we can put up anywhere between 31-40 points, and hold UCLA to about 10, I'll feel real confident about the dog fight that's going to ensue the following week in the swamp.
Now, to the Gators, they played a 1-AA school last night that WKU is 10 times better than and it took Florida longer to hang the points than it did us. Tebow looked a little bit sluggish, but hell, it was Charleston Southern, you know, that tough ass OOC schedule that Florida plays every year. I truly believed after all that played out yesterday, for example, UGALY looks like ****, it's going to be a long season in Athens, and on Thursday, even though, they were really no threat, South Carolina only put up 7 against NC State. I just truly feel and believe that in two weeks, the Florida, Tennessee Winner will be in Atlanta in December. To beat the Gators, the Vols have got to be riding high, take it to the Bruins, and then go to the Swamp, and then on the gators first possession, make a statement, and If I know Kiffin, most likely he will. Now, I'm not saying play dirty or try anything sneaky, but If we have to take a 15 yard penalty, just lay into Tebow for a late hit one time, just to let him know that Big Orange is here and they are not leaving without a fight. Now to touch on that, before anyone gets pissed or makes a smartass remark *Cough Lawgator Cough*, Tebow and the Gators cannot win from behind, he has never had to play from behind, such as Ole Miss rattled them, they couldn't win, no matter what they tried, they couldn't do it, two years ago UGA hit them in the mouth, they had to play from behind, and they couldn't do it. Tennessee has to make a statement and make it early, offense has to be on cue, and the intensity and adrenaline has to be at the highest this season.
I'll see all of you at the UCLA game this weekend and then hopefully some of you guys down in Gainesville next weeked, GO BIG ORANGE, and I hope we can continue this great start and turn it into a successful season, maybe Berry taking home Heisman Honors, and Kiffin being named Coach Of The Year.
