Optimism

Yes..we looked very good aginst Fla. and Bama, but we looked aweful aginst teams of lesser talent..dont forget that either

We played with house money all season. You should know the talent situation is bad when your former walk-on MLB blows out his knee and it's a big deal.

It's tough for anyone to field a good defense when they're counting on 3rd and 4th string LBs due to injuries, especially when the previous staff left behind essentially no depth.

Message board speak is what it is. Nothing more or less. Some are optimistic, some are not while both call themselves realistic. Just a slice of humanity stuck up on a monitor screen. I'm optimistic and will stay that way. If I'm disappointed, then so be it. Should that happen, it won't be the end of the world. Not 'til 2012, anyway. Anything between now and September is conjecture and/or projection by all of us. I just don't have enough historical data on anything we have to project a meaningful trend. So, I choose the bliss of optimism.

I agree with this....

Matt Simms will likely be the starter and he isn't in Crompton's league.

I love how you failed to mention the loss of Eric Berry in your section about the defense. Wilcox may turn out to be good, but he's no Monte Kiffin any way you try to spin it.

Yea, Wilcox will prove to be better. Count on it.

The only team that defended Florida better than UT did last year was Alabama. Funny how everybody instantly forgets that as soon as that staff leaves.

We didn't defend them good.. tebow fumbled when they were about to score.. they could have easily beat us by 2 more scores.. not impressed with monte at all... BUT givin time in college game he could turn out to be great

Did anybody defend Ole Miss or VaTech worse?

Montes D was big a few years ago..it made him famous, but now days its old news.I think Montes days are few..too many young smart cords. out there that will study it and find its weakness.I like Monte..but like all the old dogs..thier time comes and goes.

Apparently you didn't watch us at Ole Miss. I was in Oxford and my neck hurt watching their offense OWN Monte's magical defense. He schemed up Florida pretty well, but several schools had no trouble scoring on Magic Monte.

Are Alabama, Florida, and LSU going to forfeit? If not, UT has no chance at 8 wins this year.

Can we please try to be positive. They said we didn't have a chance against Alabama and Florida last year and we made a pretty good showing. We were in the game with Florida and we should have beaten Bama. With Moron Myles calling the shots at LSU, I like our chances.

Whenever I see your post I get the same feeling I get right before walking into the bathroom after eating Taco Bell. I know there's gonna be alot of crap and most of its going to stink.

Well you just never know. We could pull off an upset when we play Florida. they are going through alot of changes as well. Oregon is going to be tough but overall I think we have a good chance at starting the season 2-1.
Awesome!!!! Now have another shot of that koolaid...

I'm just trying to save those expecting 8 or more wins from disappointment when we end up with no more than 5.

Thank you UT savior. I'll pass and take what is given, not what you prognosticate. I hear USC is lookin for some fresh fans. I can feel you tinglin for kiffy from here. Scuse me while I vomit.
