Open Practice Highlights

I'm not sure why everyone is flipping out about the O-line. Both Jashon Robertson and Jack Jones did not participate in the drills and they will most likely be two of our starters.

That's not really the case. The "1" against the same Mizzou that GA destroyed and the Vandy game, had many still worried. The Oline has been mentioned as a concern daily in the off-season. There has never been a time when "nobody" has been worried with this ol.

Georgia's wins against Ak and Mizzou were total fluke games. Georgia got a couple turnovers early and the games snowballed. That UGA team wasn't much better than us, Ak, or Mizzou.

I agree with not understanding the flipping out here but it looks very very unlikely they both would start. Jones is JR backup IMO

I see you are in Atlanta, so I have to suspect hatred of the Dawgs and a little bias. But UGA wasn't the point of the post anyway. Our line looked bad against a mediocre Mizzou. Nothing about UGA changes that.

Georgia beat Mizzou 34-0. That doesn't happen by luck or a fluke

Any word how Drew Richmond is doing? I thought he would be a starter for our OL, but haven't heard any word of how is progressing.

The offense looked and functioned completely different with Dobbs under center, that's the point I was making and if you can't see and acknowledge that then I can't help you.

No doubt there was improvement, but a lot of it had to do with the level of competition at year end. Except for Missouri, the competition was much worse than the first part of the season. And we saw what happened vs. MO. We can hope Dobbs, the OL and healthy WRs are all better with off season improvement.

It's not absurd because of two things.

First off, they're basing their predictions off of how good Dobbs played even with that terrible of an Offensive Line. So as long as they improve he will do even better. With Hurd a 2nd year and more experience on Dobbs you would only think our offense will play better than with what it ended last season.

But secondly, and the most important thing is, our defensive looks scary as I can remember in a long time. So no one will be scoring enough points to keep up with what dobbs can do with just an okay offensive line. 10-2 is actually very realistic if you ask me. I don't know who will be able to score enough points on us to beat us. You guys need to start thinking about more than just the one dimensional observations.

Dobbs is unproven against a solid SEC defense. He struggles with his accuracy at times, UT can't count on him converting every third down this year with his legs, he must do it with his arm. And, I'm not sure that he can do that against the best defenses in the SEC. As for the offensive line, just be average, and I'm not sure they can do that either.

Maybe not, but its better on here than over at VQ. I just got sick of the BS by the same crowd over there. Really am liking VN much better !!

Let me know how you feel after the first loss this season.

Mauk handed UGA that game. He had 4-5 terrible turnovers and Mizzou rolled over. That was the same UGA defense that gave up 38 points to Florida. They weren't that good.

Butch said he had a good week of practice. looked much improved. But last week he called him a marshmellow. LOL

He'll be in the rotation, I dont think he starts.

To me, he looks a lot like a physically talented freshman drinking from a fire hose and trying to absorb the playbook, techniques, game speed, and other complexities of college football. In short, he's doing fine. Could redshirt, if we weren't kinda thin at OT; for that reason, he may not. Guess it depends a lot on whether we suffer too many injuries at the position.

I bet every single SEC opponent on our schedule would trade their best QB for Dobbs, right now.

This guy loves drinking haterade. Speaking of Dobbs, I'm pretty sure that last year he practiced with the 2nd string and still surprised a powerhouse after burning the redshirt. Please tell me a Qb in CFB that is will be better against SEC defenses this year. I will tell you, zero.
